absolutely terrible. I have gaven this place 3 chances. And they blew em all!
Stage tonight for metal bands were too small and terrible for the price i paid!!! 2 BANDS?! 40$? 60$ was the door price.. Pathetic! We were crammed on the base floor, when upstairs was closed off.. completely ridiculous. No seating, all standing..Drinks were watered down. Attending both upstairs and downstairs a few days ago, and downstairs is a RIP OFF! Terrible viewing, terrible audio ,terrible time! Way to expensive!!! I am 5,7 and during king 810 show i didnt see a thing. Terrible.
Wheres the representation of local bands anyways? Seems like it's not the narrative here and as a former musician that tells me a lot of who they are serving and targeting here.
Security is OVERBOARD! They are way power tripping, aggressive, assaultive and provoke patrons.. Avoid this place and take the drive to another city, I will be!
*edit note: Capital City Music Hall opened in October 2025, anything older is from a previous location they are using to boost reviews, which is misleading. Here are the real reviews from the new location. I went to Lovedraft's Brewing, and way better then this location in all ways...I see this company is looking into being a music venue for preimer entertainment, but this is a total disaster and should be scrapped in my opinion**
The show I saw was in the basement. The stage is basically 6 inches off the ground, at an angle in a corner, and not very wide with poles on the side. Which means that maybe 15 people actually can see the band if they're in the first two rows of people standing. While it's cool to get up close and personal, I could only see the performers heads.
The sound wasn't great. Vocals were hard to hear. Live drums in a tiny basement makes it hard to mix.
Drinks are par with a Livenation venue. $12 for a PBR tall boy. The bar is tiny and was blocked by people sitting at bar stools. Overall, I'm giving it 3 stars as hopefully they make some changes as it's new.
**Edit: I think its helpful for folks to know the Google reviews/rating contains the previous location. This venue opened in the last few months so any older, higher reviews were from before it relocated. I didn't change my rating but I've now heard from two friends who had similar issues, so check those recent reviews before you go in.**
Great venue, easy in and out parking in the garage less than a minute away. The security team (Will, Breyer and Duncan) were on it. While waiting outside, longer than expected, I needed some water to take meds and Breyer graciously went inside to get some for me without hesitation. Will saw I was in pain from standing outside for so long and went inside and got me a folding chair to sit on without me even asking. He then gave us the layout of the inside and told us where to head when we got inside to where there are built in seats (it was general admission with no seats) for me to be able to sit with a great view of the stage. When he saw us inside he asked if I needed anything. Most security people we have encountered over the years have been awful. These guys were top notch! Food was very reasonably priced and good! Sound was great as well. We will be back for sure!
The staff are very friendly and the bands were great, that’s the only positive thing. They aren’t kidding when they say they have “limited seating.” It consists of 3 benches. Most of the audience that go to see older bands are close in age to the band members. I like to stand when a band is playing, but would prefer to sit until they’re on. They advertise as having a balcony, yet we were not allowed to go up there. Even leaning against the railing would have been nice, not to mention having a better view of the stage and without looking at poles. The floor was pretty full of people constantly bumping into each other so it makes no sense why the upper floor was off limits. What’s the point of it being there?
Great spot, run by some great people. 2 stages for just about any kind of event. Good vibes all around.
We saw Chris Webby this past weekend and had a freaking blast. The show was amazing. The sound set up sounded great, and you could fully understand how the opening performers sounded. I don't know if this compliment is for Webby's team or for the venue but it's worth noting either way. The venue was a nice size, not too big or too small. The bathrooms were clean and the drinks were reasonably priced! We paid $28 for two double Jack & Cokes. Tall boys were $12 and they seemed to have a decent selection.
My wife and I have had the pleasure of attending multiple shows at Capital City Music Hall on 2nd Street, and I was genuinely impressed from start to finish. From the very moment I arrived, it was clear that the staff operate with a true sense of professionalism. Everyone I encountered — from the door team to the bar staff to the ushers — was courteous, efficient, and clearly well trained. Their calm confidence made the whole experience feel smooth and welcoming, without ever coming off as overly corporate.
The layout of the venue itself is phenomenal. The design strikes a perfect balance between intimacy and capacity, making you feel connected to the performance whether you're on the floor or up by the mezzanine. The flow and sightlines are great, which makes enjoying a show feel effortless — you can really see and hear without feeling packed in.
What stood out most to me, though, was how discreet yet effective the security team was. They maintained a highly professional presence throughout the night, ensuring both patron safety and performer protection without disrupting the vibe. Their swiftness and vigilance were evident, but they never made the crowd feel policed or uneasy. It felt like they were truly there to protect the experience rather than to be an obstacle.
Overall, Capital City Music Hall is a top-tier venue. Exceptional staff, thoughtfully designed space, and a security team that balances safety with a respectful, unobtrusive approach — we’ll absolutely be back for future shows.
An amazing venue with friendly staff. A great place to catch a show. Plenty of parking right next to the venue
Very professional staff and the sound is incredible
Great space! The sound was fantastic, the staff was friendly and fast. Definitely will be going back.

I saw a show here in the lower level and it was a disaster. You could hear the event upstairs the whole time. The artist was frustrated also. Horrible experience
Went to see my favorite artist today Chris Webby with my wife and some friends. When we arrived there was a line of friendly people waiting to go through normal ticket and id process. The security guard there was aggressive, yelling and mean to everyone in line. Crazier than I've ever experienced in my 45 years of partying. Within 10 minutes of being in line we witnessed the security team throw a man into 2nd street traffic and he was almost killed by a oncoming vehicle. I can not believe the behavior we witnessed. This man was almost killed. Then throughout the entire event abuse and serious level of assaults on patrons continued and was the most disturbing thing I have ever witnessed in my entire life. During this single event we saw 4 people in total violently removed from venue. Im sure some of them where acting up or i dont know specific details. All I know is a professional place can not handle business and security in this manner. The level of violence and excessive force will certainly lead to serious injuries or death if this behavior continues. I will never go back to this place again and will warn everyone i know to avoid that place at all costs. This place is unsafe and a travesty to Harrisburg.
Lower level venue is pretty much unusable. Sound from the main venue overpowers the lower level entirely.
Fun venue!
Wonderful quaint venue for seeing live music. The employees were awesome also!!
