Janelle Stelson's comment on her Instagram post brought me here to find out more about the store she visited. Although my last 'real' ice cream indulgence occurred years ago due to following physicians orders, I wholeheartedly appreciate the smiles others get in tasting their scoops of happiness.

Most importantly, I appreciated even the comment that the owner wrote about trying to 'do the right thing' consistently as a business catering to customers. For that, you earned my ? vote for integrity.

Now, hopefully, other adults will follow suit and do the same, regardless of political affiliation. Honesty still matters, folks.

The staff was extremely friendly. Gotta love Hershey's icecream. The pricing was reasonable and the portion sizes were definitely good.

What’s not to love about ice cream when the weather is hot and sticky. Yep, Rakestraws provided the perfect capstone to our busy shopping day. I had the black raspberry in a waffle cone while my partner had vanilla in a standard cone with colorful jimmies. ? Yummy.

Parking: Parking lot sits directly in front of the shop. Easy in and out.

Growing up in New Cumberland, it was a real treat to come to Rakestraw's. Moving to Mechanicsburg, our daughter's softball teams always went there. Now I'm old & still am never disappointed. Maybe because I grew up with Rakestraw's, I don't care about seating. The retaining wall has always been ok with us. We go for ice cream, not sit inside or use a bathroom.

My wife loves their teaberry ice cream so we stopped by for a pint to take home. Ice cream is always good.

Amazing ice cream choices! This peanut butter ice cream was so flavorful and creamy. Had 3 2 scoop dishes for around $12 so that was awesome as well.

Classic, delicious, hands down best icecream in town. Update: never ceases to satisfy. Best icecream I've ever had. Don't sleep on Monster cookie and the go-to classic black raspberry. Flavors done right, never change ?.

Ice cream was good, however employees were scooping without gloves and with smartwatches on their wrists. These are both healthcode violations. I realize dipped ice cream is often done without gloves, but dragging dirty personal electronics through food while serving is not acceptable.

Rakestraws is more than just an ice cream shop. It's a Mechanicsburg staple. I've gone here for 35 years, and I'm so glad they have survived. It's a hometown favorite.

They were so friendly. Ice cream was amazing. The ice cream for breakfast was great. My kids loved it! Definitely recommend!

They serve hershey ice cream. A great local place that supports the community and local schools. Have tons of events supporting the schools.
