Is it a pub? Is it a restaurant? At 4pm it is the latter, but by 6 pm it is the former. Nevertheless two things holding the same space can only be pigeon held to certain compartments for so long before they bleed together and confound the total structure. The bathroom smells like fish, but not those fish from under water, but from underwear. The porcelain drain hole of the bathroom sink is cracked in and filled with shards and obscure rubbish. I stopped in on a recent Wednesday night, hoping to try out the Towne House but was ushered back to Shebeen. It’s got the feel of an Irish pub. The shepherds pie was delicious so were the potato and bacon croquettes. A nice pint of Guinness to wash it all down to make me pretty happy. Ended up spending more than I thought though.
Getting in the holiday spirit here and jumping the shark on thanksgiving. But what a great place. Something about it makes for easy and interesting conversation with strangers.
