“Townie bar with a hip vibe? Check. Excellent drink selection? Check. Local owner that you’re happy to support? Check. Clean bathrooms with great smelling soap that costs more than what I buy for myself? Check. Feels like a safe space? Check. What more could you possibly need?“
“Favorite traditional after work Pittsburgh neighborhood bar....add some of Pitt's best and brightest, a lot of fun.....Trivia nites on Wednesday are entertaining as the crowd is generally younger and the kids have a unique sense of humor....“
“We went there one night with my husband’s cousins. It was a lot of fun! The drinks were great as well. I love the one with juice of a whole fresh orange and the one with fire( I forgot the name). We stayed until 2 in the morning and got tacos on Carson st. Felt exhausted the next day lol.“

“This place ROCKS. I really can’t pinpoint what it is, but every single time I’ve walked through that door, I laughed till I cried, drank good and danced all night long. Julie behind the bar is a very important piece to this puzzle. Best bartender ever, hands down!“

“Get your drink on, get your smoke on and get your grub on and get your groove on. Classic dive bar. Know what you want to order before you're at the bar. Some booth seating with a long bar with stools, back room with pool and live music.“
“Garvey's is a fantastic place nestled in Southside slopes. We stumbled upon when we were walking from the slopes to the flats. Bartender James was a lot of fun. They don't serve food but you can order in. I showed up with my whole football crew and we brought snacks and sandwiches. Felt just like tailgate! They have a fun bowling game in the back room. We also bought Garvey's Tshirts and hoodies. What a blast“
“Bar itself is great. Some really nice people at any given time as well. But all that goes from a 5 star experience to a zero whenever the ego maniac Julia happens to be working. She is a very toxic and demanding person hell bent on iron rule. She is the epitome of an overbearing, drama loving wannabe diva. Skip Mondays and Sundays and turn around any other day she happens to be filling in.“

“How can this be a 5 star review?? Because Jack's is a consummate dive bar - been there for a billion years, including some of the help & patrons, and it stays true to exactly what it is - a Pittsburgh dive bar, complete with smoking (I don't smoke), iron city beer, early hours, locals, Steelers Identity, etc. They do have some basic bar food- like burgers, possibly grilled cheese, etc., and it's pretty much what you'd expect or even worse, but it's good that they have it when you're 10 iron citys in & ya absolutely have to have something/have the munchies. I consider Jack's to be a ritualistic visit when I come to Pittsburgh for a Steelers game. I almost always start there, followed by other spots on Carson Street before moving on to the other neighborhoods of Pittsburgh.“

“Smoking bars are not ones I go to if I can help it but I was celebrating a friend's birthday and decided to just deal with it. A rowdy crowd for karaoke night. Didn't have any food or play pinball. Only one bartender but you'd get your drink eventually, just had to be patient. The place is very punk, but also seems to be the neighborhood watering hole bc there were several older folks at the bar who were clearly not part of the scene. I coughed up dark mucus for the next two days clearing out all the smoke but the night was fun. Street parking.“

“If you're looking for a great neighborhood bar, it's tough to beat Kelly's. The bartenders and owner are very friendly and the prices are reasonable. There are a lot of local regulars who welcome less frequent visitors like myself. If there's a Pittsburgh sporting event, you can be sure that it will be on the TVs. While I haven't eaten there, I've heard good things about the food.“

“The Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich was a fiery delight! The chicken itself was juicy and perfectly fried, with a satisfying crunch. The heat level was impressive – a definite kick that lingered pleasantly, but thankfully didn't overwhelm the flavor of the chicken. The spice was well-balanced, with a nice tang that cut through the heat. I particularly appreciated the [mention a specific element you liked, e.g., the generous amount of pickles, the perfectly toasted bun, the creamy slaw].
The french fries were a solid accompaniment, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. A classic, well-executed side that didn't disappoint.
Service was prompt and friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. While the sandwich was definitely the star, everything worked together to make this a satisfying meal. I'd definitely recommend this place for some seriously good Nashville Hot Chicken.“
“Tara is a great bartender and very welcoming. We had fun! Thanks, Tara!“
“Down and dirty. Shots poured in plastic condiment cups. Graffiti on (literally) every surface. It's cheap. Decent drafts. It doesn't smell, which is frankly surprising. I get the impression it gets pretty rowdy at night, just by the evidence. I also get the impression staff doesn't put up with any hassle. This isn't exactly a place for a first date, but it's kind of cozy in it's own weird way.“

“Nice spot in Oakland. Fun college bar.“
“Great local neighborhood bar. Must go for wing night! We live about 30 minutes away and will gladly drive down for food and drinks on a Thursday. One thing to note, food is only served on wing night, but there are several good places on the same street! Gets a bit busy when college is in, but still fun!“
“Love this bar, it’s is honestly one of the best dance dive bars I’ve been to! Truly enjoy how they have themed nights throughout the week! Bad gals night was my favorite, but keep in mind the line does get pretty long (around the block) so try to arrive early and bring cash! *cover* I think about $10!“

“If yinz find yourself passing through Munhall,PA like we were you’ve simply gotta stop in at the local tavern on Main Street! We stumbled upon Main Street Tavern and are thankful we did. This joint has big screens to watch an assortment of sporting events, copious options in the beverage arena and an assortment tasty food crafted by their cook (make sure you check the schedule ~ you won’t be disappointed!). Yinz know the show Cheers, right?! It was evident that the owners of this local establishment know everyone who walks through their doors by name. The greetings we’d witness as folks arrived was cheerful and when it was time to leave they’d give a shoutout “see yinz next time!” We bellied up to the bar and ordered two draft beers … what kind you ask … Yuengling of course! Do you know the story of Yuengling; it’s one of the American Spirit. It’s a tale of shared dreams, individual tenacity & an unwavering dedication to standards of quality. Like many American stories it starts amid the dreams of countless young immigrants looking for opportunity and emerges from the strength & will of one family determined to build their legacy in a new country. The story of America’s Oldest Brewery began when David G. Yuengling arrived from Wuerttemberg Germany to settle in the sleepy, coal-mining town of Pottsville, Pennsylvania. As I digress, like a story being shared with new friends over a cold beer I’ll get back to our visit at Main Street Tavern. We ordered draft refills to accompany the wings & hand crafted pizza we ultimately chose; the menu is filled with taste bud tempting & oh so many yummy in my tummy choices. The crust of the pizza is sourced locally along with most of the food you’ll find on Main Street Tavern’s; it’s an impressive menu. The meatballs are homemade & sought after by many (that’s what I gathered by listening to banter across the bar). The rabbit food aka salads galore I doubt will leave you hungry by the portions I saw being served causing me to second guess my choice but not for long, those first nibbles into the perfectly cooked wings & crisped drumsticks drizzled in sauce had me wanting more. The wing sauce was scrumpdillyicious & fingers were licked while our pizza was easily devoured as we shared this feast while bantering with the locals, staff and owners as college football played on the screens. Folks were filtering in and out, some playing pool while others shared stories of their week. It’s was kind of neat spending time in a local neighborhood establishment, the vibe is unique and very much welcomed. We learned that Main Street Tavern is a staple in the community and gives back regularly hosting an array of charitable events like chili cook-offs, Santa was just there for pictures with the kids, karaoke & local entertainment. Ugh! Now we had a problem of the most basic kind. Being in town only for one night we couldn’t enjoy other items offered on Main Street Tavern’s savory menu and the company of friendly folks that shared our evening; perhaps our return trip east in the spring requires a delightful detour?! So in review … this gal encourages you to divert yourself off the highway, head on over to historic Munhall (a borough in Allegheny County, PA on the west bank of the Monongahela river). At Main Street Tavern we found ourselves warmly welcomed as we stepped inside, filled up on an assortment of vittles, beverages severed with a smile & locals who were happy to sit alongside us as we conversed about our travels across our country.“
