Food is very mid. No one really enjoyed their food, we just thought everything was ok. Definitely not a restaurant for big parties (6+). Waiter was very nice but he seemed a little hazy. We sat upstairs and most of us were freezing the whole time.
We stopped in for dinner after seeing a show at the Bucks County Playhouse. It was just a short walk around the corner. We didn’t have a reservation; no problem, that sat us in a window alcove, which was perfect. My husband ordered the sea bass and I got crabcakes and both meals were so good. The seabass was excellent!!! I had the watermelon gazpacho soup before the meal and loved it. Our server Bill could not have been more attentive. He made sure we had everything we wanted and was very knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant. We highly recommend The Salt House! Great experience.
**Not sure why restaurant wants to pretend like they didn’t serve us this food. These items were and are on your menu. Odd flex to pretend they aren’t. I added a photo of our receipt proving we ordered these items. We went here, ordered these items, and hated all of it. There was smoke trout mouse on the tartare, their caesar did have balsamic and their spice chicken sandwhich was crap. It’s so odd to me they keep trying to say they don’t have these menu items when they clearly did**
Disappointing across the board. The Caesar salad was ruined with unnecessary balsamic, the tuna drowned in smoked trout mousse that bulldozed the flavors, and the burger was a mess — plastic-tasting, overly sweet caramelized onions that made it nearly inedible. The spicy chicken was an underwhelming 6/10, the dirty martini missed the mark, and the fries? They tasted frozen and were soggier than they had any right to be — limp, lifeless, and sad on the plate. Overall, not fresh, not balanced, and not something I’d recommend.
Server was noticeably miserable. I understand it’s a holiday weekend and it’s not great to be working but to not check up on a table for 30 minutes is unacceptable. Our food wasn’t even hot when I came to the table. Our drinks were overpriced.
Burger was yummy but the fries were soggy, the floors were super slippery not sure why
Food and service was okay.
Very historic and small place, but the food (especially the Mac and cheese) are amazing and fresh. Drinks were strong but very good. Staff was incredible kind and put effort into every customer. Would highly recommend!
This place would have been nice if I were 15 years younger. When we went (lunch time), we walked in and there was a couple seated at a table and 2 people at the bar. There were open tables, yet because we didn't have a reservation, they only had upstairs available. Odd, but we said okay. We went upstairs and there are no tables. They are coffee tables, with couches or lounge chairs. I was with 3 other people who are mid-40s, and it was quite an adjustment to sit and eat like that (at one point, we all had to sit at an angle because our knees met the coffee table, so to avoid dropping food onto ourselves, we had to sit crooked). The waitress was pleasant. Our wait time for food was 45 mins, and there were only 2 other tables in the room with us, who had already gotten their food within 15 mins of when we arrived. Our food was delicious. The buttermilk chicken sandwich was absolutely mouthwatering, but that could also be because I was starving waiting 45 mins for it. The Halibut chowder was fantastic, also. Best chowder I probably ever had. Would I come here again? No. Would I recommend it to younger people (early 30s and under) ? Yes. The music was great (think The Smiths), the walls were black, the art was interesting/trendy. Just not for people who need a regular seat and chair and have bad knees.

We had made a reservation for Salt House for back in December, however we were unable to make it due to personal reasons. Knowing days in advance we needed to cancel, we attempted to cancel through their reservation service/website they use, Tock, but there was no option to cancel the reservation through their website. We called the phone number provided by Tock but it was no longer a functioning phone number so we were unable to speak with anyone and unsuccessful in cancelling through them. We emailed Salt House directly, days prior to our reservation, and attempted to call with no response. We were attempting to follow their policy of cancelling through the third party website but there appeared to be no such option for us to do so. No response from anyone on their end to help us resolve the situation either or explain further. Just a disappointing experience overall so important to keep in mind when making a reservation. New Hope is a lovely place but I️ would recommend skipping this spot.

Made reservation for New Year's day thru Tock, arrived at restaurant and it was closed. Also the reservation company charge me deposit. The reservations should be blocked. Horrible experience!!!!!!

Great atmosphere - feels very cozy with a big fireplace on the first floor. Feels very much like a restaurant built into a Colonial building.
American food - prepared very well. Definitely a place to return to

We have two older, children 9 and 12 almost, who are world travelers and extremely well behaved..we entered asking for a table at 5 pm dressed up on a Sunday after the New Hope Christmas train and were told they had a table, then the hostess came back and said they actually didn’t have a table …I then asked about how long it may be for a table, she then said they’re booked all night..I kindly told my daughter in front of the server that they probably didn’t want children here based on the strange response and the hostess did not correct us. I generally don’t write reviews good or bad to be honest but this was such a weird experience.
