We attended a funeral memorial outside on the patio. They served all the food the deceased had liked when she went there to eat. Everything was delicious. The staff was friendly and helpful.

I’ve been reviewing health inspection records from the Bucks County Department of Health, and La Stalla in Newtown continues to raise serious concerns.
Most recently, in March 2025, inspectors found live cockroaches in food prep and dishwashing areas, uncovered food in refrigerators, dirty equipment, and improper knife storage. These aren’t isolated incidents—similar violations have been cited over and over again across multiple inspections in 2023, 2024, and now 2025.
The restaurant is clearly struggling—or unwilling—to maintain basic food safety standards. These are not just technicalities; they point to a consistent pattern of neglect, poor cleanliness, and lack of follow-through. Despite being under pest control, cockroach activity persists. Despite being warned about sanitation, dirty prep areas and improperly stored utensils keep showing up in reports.
Given the repeated and serious nature of these violations, I would strongly urge others to think twice before dining here. There are plenty of excellent local options nearby that prioritize cleanliness and food safety.
I hope La Stalla’s management takes these findings seriously and makes immediate, permanent improvements. Until then, I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

What a great place for a date night dinner! We were met by extremely friendly hostesses and seated immediately for our 4:30 reservation. Our waiter was very professional and personable and wasted no time getting our drink orders and appetizer (antipasto salad) with delicious red win vinaigrette. Our chicken parmigiana with spaghetti (for 2) was perfectly cooked and did not disappoint. We will definitely come back next time we visit the area.

Atmosphere & Crowd (★☆☆☆☆) Despite the promise of a cozy barn‑style vibe, the space felt cramped, noisy, and frantic. It was less romantic trattoria and more chaotic canteen.
Pace & Fun (★☆☆☆☆) It’s constantly crowded—but that doesn’t translate to energy or fun. Instead, it felt like a rushing hype machine chasing attention for attention’s sake, without any of the payoff.
Bottom Line: La Stalla delivers middling food in a loud, overcrowded atmosphere. It trades substance for buzz—and misses both.
That said, on the brighter side: Vecchia Osteria in Newtown is a breath of fresh air. Consistently praised for its homemade pastas, warm service, and charming ambiance—many reviewers rate it around 4.7–4.8 stars. It’s the kind of authentic, family-run spot that La Stalla aspires to be.
I was also misled by Resy’s listing for La Stalla, which touted a glowing 4.8-star rating—clearly inflated and not reflected in my experience.
Final Advice: Skip the hype and the Resy star ratings. If you’re craving solid Italian food with genuine atmosphere, head to Vecchia Osteria instead—it truly deserves the praise.I celebrated my bday twice over there but this time I wanted a change and I was so disappointed.Never Again.

Our server Samantha was great! We enjoy trying new places and we were impressed with the family style rustic indoor/ outdoor seating and sitting under the pergola... beautiful. It sort of transported us to a recent dining experience in Greece. Loved the octopus salad. Loved the Rigatoni Carbonara..that we took the left overs and had it for dinner two days later and it was just as good...and we never take away restaurant left overs which means 1- the portions were great 2- the food was outstanding. We will definitely be back!
