I witnessed an extremely rude and disappointing interaction from another customer on Christmas Eve at this family-owned restaurant. Instead of enjoying time with their own family, they chose to verbally bash a small business and take out their frustration on staff who were sacrificing their Christmas Eve to be there working. People often forget that behind the counter are real humans—many of them giving up precious holiday time to serve others. This restaurant and its staff deserve patience, kindness, and appreciation, especially on a night like Christmas Eve. I hope anyone reading this remembers to treat service workers with the respect they deserve.

Wife and I went for Christmas Eve Dinner for the feast of the 7 fishes! Wonderful evening and the food was superb. We had a number of variations of things but loved the Zupe di Mare, and the Rigatoni with clams, mussels and shrimp in a Fra Diavalo sauce. Hadn’t really felt in the holiday spirit until dinner that evening. Warm cozy atmoshpere with holiday music in background. Had a great server “Taylor” and even had a chance to wish the owner Pasquale a Merry Christmas! A truly wonderful meal and evening out!

Wow! Owner is psycho! One person in our party is allergic to Parmesan cheese. Dinner was ordered without Parmesan but was served with Parmesan. Was sent back, but by the time new dinner arrived everyone else was finished eating. Politely asked if the dinner could be comped as compensation for the inconvenience. Owner came over to the table and started screaming at us then told us to leave. Unbelievable as we have patronized this restaurant numerous times before. So instead of taking $20 off the bill the owner lost a $300+ bill and server did not receive a tip. Plus we will not be speaking well of our experience at this establishment.

Delicious authentic Italian food!

We went here on a whim because we are from out of town, so glad we stopped in. The food was delicious, and the family was delightful. This was very authentic Italian. It really felt like we were back in Italy! We hope to make the hour and a half drive again sometime. Well worth it.

Been going to this place over 10 years, and tonight was the last. Because of their poor scheduling, we were refused coffee and dessert in order to get the table flipped... thats how you treat your loyal customers? Never again!

A non-chain restaurant that is family owned and run with great food and a BYOB to top it off. I’ve been here six times and every time I got great food and service. Keep it up and I’ll keep returning.

Vecchia Osteria is what looks to be the neighborhood BYOB. Their paper reservation book is large and full, and staff hugs show that there are many regulars. This is not a fancy place, but offers large portions and an extensive menu. The sautéed garlic carrots starter they bring is a nice touch (and delicious). We ordered the grilled calamari which were large pieces over dressed arugula. The arugula was dressed minimally and the calamari was over cooked and chewy. For mains, we got the pappardelle bolognese (homemade pasta with an average sauce), chicken francese, and veal funghi (3-sizable pieces covered in mushrooms and sun-dried tomatoes). All dishes were good— not great, not bad. We ended the meal with the limoncello cake. It was good, despite it not being recommended by the waiter (that was an awkward exchange). It was a decent meal at a BYOB, but nothing to write home about.

A ridiculously popular BYOB. Finding a parking spot can be an epic challenge. A good sized crowd of people were waiting to be seated when we left before 8 PM on a snowy Friday evening. Seating is tight and dining room noisy, but that’s part of the fun. Wait staff are very friendly and efficient.

Eggplant Rollatini over arugula appetizer was very good. Grilled Calamari over arugula was mostly tasty, but some pieces were slightly bitter, maybe because of the charred bits. It was not at all too chewy. We also had a stuffed red pepper appetizer special that was also very good, though there were a lot of barely cooked slices of garlic.

Fusilli alla Polpa Di Granchio – “Fusilli pasta with jumbo lump crabmeat, onions, cherry tomatoes, & a touch of hot pepper in a light pink cream sauce.” This was not light at all, except in color. It was overly rich and cheesy for a seafood dish, in my opinion. It did have an enjoyable flavor, and the crabmeat chunks were large and tasty.

We also enjoyed the spaghetti and clams in red sauce. My dining partner did mention that there were many empty shells and some broken shells as well. The thin spaghetti pasta was cooked appropriately al dente. I avoided the many large slices of seemingly raw garlic. The sauce was light and very flavorful.

Gnocchi Di Mare – “Shrimp, clams and grape tomatoes in a white wine sauce.” This was pretty good, though it did have a very strong taste of garlic, like the spaghetti and clams dish. The shrimp may not have been the best quality, or maybe just slightly undercooked. They just did not have the firmness and sweetness that I associate with really good fresh shrimp. Tails and last shell segment were left on the shrimp, so of course you’re going to get your fingers sticky if you want to get all the meat out. Clams in this dish were good; no broken or empty shells.

dessert was a house-made Ameretto tiramisu. It was delicious. Better than your typical tiramisu.

We celebrated our brother’s 50th birthday last night. The food was delicious, the service was fantastic and we had such a great time. The restaurant was extremely busy for a Thursday night and they didn’t blink an eye with our large party. We ordered appetizers ahead of time and everyone was able to order what they wanted on the menu. The best part was they had gluten free ravioli and it was very much enjoyed for the first time in many years by a guest with a gluten allergy. The limoncello cake 🍰 is a must try!! Thank you and we will “all” be back!!
