"Absolutely no lettuce!" You're here to try the local legend: the Zep sandwich. A Zep is not a hoagie, which has lettuce. A Zep has one meat, thick cut onions, thick cut tomatoes, provolone cheese, oregano, oil, and sweet peppers optional. That's it. I gotta say this sandwich is absolutely delicious. Purportedly one of the few sandwich shops in and around Norristown which still make a proper zep, i.e. “a hoagie without the cheese,” according to a local authority. Eve’s version more or less fits this description, showing how less can be more: fresh meat in rolls baked this morning; sliced onions and tomato with a squirt of oil and a dash of oregano—nothing fancy, but more than the sum of its simple parts.
