I expected the staff to be dressed and communicate professionally—not wearing jeans and cut-off shorts while using slang. First impressions matter, especially at a winery with such a rich history.

What disappointed me most was discovering after we left that this is the oldest cellar winery. Are you kidding me? That should have been the highlight of the entire experience. Instead, no one shared the history of the winery, talked about the owners, the grapes, the wines, or the cellar itself. We were simply poured wine and sent on our way. There was no storytelling, no passion, and no effort to create an experience.

We weren’t even offered cheese and crackers—we had to ask. When they finally arrived, they were literally still wrapped in plastic. It felt like an afterthought.

We were visiting friends over a holiday weekend and were genuinely in the mood to spend money. Had our server shown even an ounce of personality, enthusiasm, or pride in the winery, we easily would have walked out with two cases of wine. Instead, we left with nothing.

We were in and out in less than 15 minutes. At a winery with so much history and potential, that’s incredibly disappointing. It wasn’t just a missed sale—it was a missed opportunity to create an experience worth remembering. Unfortunately, the only memorable part was how forgettable the visit was.

The outside doesn't do this place justice. Go inside an see for yourself. Mary is a sweetheart, thanks for the wine opener.

My husband Dave and I had the best experience at this winery. Matthew was so knowledgeable about the history of the building, shared the journal and was great with our wine tasting. We will definitely be back to this one of a kind winery

We love South Shore! It is by far our favorite winery in North East! The wine cellar is fantastic and has that old rustic wine cellar vibe. The people who work there always make your experience special. With different bouquet of wines specific to your taste! Mary is so wonderful and really makes you feel welcomed while visiting! A must on your winery tour! 🍷🍷

my wife and I went on a Presidents’ Day wine tour in Northeast PA. We started at South Shore wine Company. What a great facility and we had a wonderful flight of sweet wines. All were good but the Honey Mead both cold and hot was delicious. We got a bottle to take home. A big thanks to Mary and the owner. They made it a great stop.

Great place! They let you do wine tasting here so you can try it out before you buy it, picked up some great stuff here!

The winery is lovely but the older woman, who worked there yesterday, was not helpful nor nice.

I visited with a Pittsburgh wine bus tour! Mary and Cathy!! Mary and Cathy! Amending service and honestly genuine people. We came in a large group but had very small asks and although they closed in 10 minutes we were treated with great respect and patience! Made my week! Thank you. Beautiful environment and tasty wines! Got the sweet flight and bought two of the reds in that group! Good prices! Thank you all!

Old Cellar where you can do wine tasting. Nice thing is that you can select your own 4 wines for the tasting if you want to. Wines were ok. Best was the Grunel

Such a cool place in an amazing and unique location. The wines were amazing and there was a very cool artisan selection of wines. The staff was friendly and helpful and willing to chat. The owners are also amazing. What a great place to go for some amazing Pennsylvania wine history.

I can't say enough about South Shore Winery venue! We held a bridal shower there recently. Kathy Mazza is excellent! She is professional, friendly and so helpful in making sure everything was taken care of. Thank you!

A great winery with great wine! We came here as I knew it was a cute venue and had good wine that I’ve had before. This place is kid-friendly and the staff are awesome! Mary at the front offered to take a photo of our family and the 2 girls in the back were helpful, patient, and polite when ordering the wine. They offered my toddler grape juice and wanted to get to know us while we sat and had a wine flight and a glass of wine. I believe they had some small appetizers. This place is definitely photo worthy as my toddler claimed it looked like a castle. I personally love German wines and took home the Grüner Veltliner and Traminette.
