We had a party of 16 and everything was perfect.....food, service, staff, etc
A friend brought me here as it is one of her favorite places for lunch. I loved the intimate atmosphere and the chicken Parmesan was top notch! Rose was the best server I’ve ever had in any establishment. Now I have a new favorite and will gladly make the 1 hour + drive to share this gem with others. I am looking forward to trying more dishes and desserts there.
It had been many years since I was there. Food was excellent.
I am in LOVE with the chicken salad ❤️
We went on Mother's Day and even though they were crowded we had good service. The food was excellent and there was good variety.
It was a Mother's Day stop it's okay. I have eaten pretty much everywhere across the United States it is hard to give a good score on the food it's fine enjoy.
Fabulous food and service!
Perfect dining experience! Our server, Regina, was wonderful! The atmosphere is very cozy. The menu selection is excellent! We had the gnocchi with asparagus and scallops and the Beggars purses. Absolutely delicious! We will definitely be returning.
Took my mom here for lunch 4-25-25. Hour and half for lunch and never got our food. We paid for the meal and left before we got our food. Typically eat here once a month w brother and client for years. Waitress was rude. Never go back.
Food was great. Steak, chicken, seafood. Several appetizers, and excellent desserts to finish off the night. Excellent cocktails, and a nice beer selection.

Small place but definitely great food!! It's a must!
The food was horrible.. would not recommend. First time there, will not be back.
Great food and service.
I went to Hoffstots for the first time Saturday night, and I will not be going back. It wasn’t bad, per se, it was just mediocre and completely uninspired. There are so many truly good restaurants in Pittsburgh that it just seemed like a waste of a Saturday night. The salad dressing, cocktail sauce and sour cream were in disposable plastic cups. The butter was foil wrapped in individual pats. The crackers with my soup were in a little plastic wrapped package. That’s what I expect in a fast food restaurant. The shrimp bisque was thin and watery, and the shrimp were obviously not fresh and previously frozen. The breaded fried shrimp tasted fine but they too were obviously frozen from a package and just thrown ion the plate. My friend’s pork chops were two boneless chops stacked on one another with literally 1 teaspoon of chopped peppers and onions on the top. They were gray. No Grille marks or anything. And they were tough.
One of the worst things about the evening was the atmosphere! The lights were so bright and white. It was like being in an operating room. We laughed about needing sunglasses all night long.
Our ketel one martinis were cold and strong. I’m not sure there was any vermouth. I asked for blue cheese stuffed olives, but they didn’t have any.
The best part of the evening was our server, Pete. He was attentive without being overbearing. He did come back to check on our meals and to pour more water in the middle of the evening.
We did not stay for coffee or dessert because at 9:45, we were the only people left in the restaurant on a Saturday night. And it was so darn bright. We just wanted to get out of there.
The reviews online were generally good so we were really surprised that everything was so average. This was not a fine dining experience. It makes me wonder if the people leaving the reviews have even been to a good restaurant before.
When I first moved to Pittsburgh 40 years ago, I quickly learned that when a local said that a restaurant was good, that meant they had big portions. Basically, such is the case with Hoffstots. Big food, no class.
Had a 7:00 pm reservation, arrived a half hour early to accommodate my friends business schedule tomorrow and maître d’ was able to move our reservation up and seat us after a minimal five minute wait. The meals are always excellent. I had blackened mahi over shrimp sauce with asparagus and Italian wedding soup. Cup of wedding soup had 6 to8 meatballs and was served with homemade bread, three different types of bread. The mahi serving was more than enough and I ended up taking A third of it home. I’ve never had a bad meal here always excellent service very good food.
