“Fine Chinese restaurant with the typical dishes available. Staff is friendly and the service was good and quick. Only reason for 4 star instead of 5 is I did feel like this place has slightly higher prices then some others I've been to.“

“I ordered the Szechuan chicken lunch meal, which came with pork fried nice and an egg roll. It was ready very quickly (10 minutes), was piping hot, and delivered the heat without being overpowering. The pork fried rice also had nice chunks of pork and roughly chopped onion. Although the prices are slightly higher than the menu posted on Facebook, it’s still a good deal for lunch and I’ll be back since I work in the area. I just wish I got a fortune cookie with my meal though! LOL 🥠“

“In addition to polite staff and food being out quick, Everything was amazing with an obvious homemade flavor you can’t get anywhere else. Everything we got; scallion pancakes, dumplings, and honey chicken, were all so DELICIOUS!!
Also there’s a nice (unexpected) sitting area inside“

“I’ve been coming here for some time but last nights food was exceptional. There was what appeared to be an older married couple cooking and gathering the orders and the food was FANTASTIC. I will only come here from now on if and when this couple is preparing the food. The general tso, chicken and broccoli with cashew, fried rice, wonton soup and veggie lo mein were out of this world.
Dietary restrictions: They will leave out items upon request.
Kid-friendliness: They sell typical friend American favs for kids“

“Golden Star is an absolute gem! I stopped by on a whim, and I’m so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of freshly cooked food had me excited. I ordered the teriyaki beef sticks and sweet and sour pork, and wow—each bite was better than the last! The beef was tender and perfectly seasoned, while the pork was crispy and paired wonderfully with the tangy sauce.
The staff here are fantastic—super friendly and attentive. Even though the restaurant was busy, they managed to keep everything running smoothly, and my food was ready in no time. The vibe is casual and laid-back, making it a great spot for a quick meal or a relaxed dinner.
If you’re a fan of generous portions and bold flavors, this place is a must-visit. Whether you’re dining in, grabbing takeout, or ordering delivery, Golden Star delivers (literally and figuratively) every time. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes! Five stars, hands down.“

“This is the best chinese spot in Scranton PA!!! I’m originally from NYC and this brought me home. So good! Highly recommend! I had sweet and sour chicken with fried rice and my hubby had the fried crab sticks with house special fried rice and an egg roll. Everything was delicious and a good price as well. Staff is super friendly.“

“Some of the best Chinese food around, great price on lunch specials which is usually what I order. I order online through ChineseMenu (yep that's really the website), it's always ready within the 10 to 15 minutes it takes me to arrive, and the food is still perfectly steaming hot when I get back, whatever ancient Chinese proverb they use works. Just the right amount of salty and greasy for me personally, a sinful meal surely but it's far from bland and not "sick after 3 bites" overpowering either. Egg drop soup, pork fried rice, and a beef dish would be my recommendations. Bro at the register is really nice but always busy working so I don't make small talk. A lot of reviews mention delivery issues or the American style food there, I can't speak on either as I haven't tried. But the Chinese takeout is ? ? ?“

“i did not very much enjoy the food, but i am rating 5 stars anyways for these reasons as follows: from the strip mall location, sparsely decorated entry way, the chandelier on the cheap school ceiling, fake flowers and classic paper chinese zodiac placemats on the tables, and the music playing so softly it's almost silent inside save for the clink of forks and plates from the four or so tables in for lunch (forks, not chopsticks, provided) and friendly kitchen chatter just out of earshot, this place sends me directly back to 8-year-old nostalgia, when my father would take me to places like this on days together, back in texas, when life was easy and simple. prompt help, choice of seat. lunch specials (many to chose from) come with pork fried rice, (which i asked to not be included so to my dietary preferences (god-related) so i cannot rate this dish), a choice of soup, wonton chips with sweet-and-sour dip, and a pot of hot tea. the water arrives in a goblet. perhaps i should have studied the menu longer, but my choices were as such: very goopy and gelatinous and disturbingly tasteless beef chow mein (i attempted to sprinkle some pepper in hopes of helping the poor thing out, but way too much came out of the shaker and it was pepper chow mein from then on), and egg drop soup that was ok but still very bland. i dipped my wonton chips into a combination of the soup and sauce which i liked the best out of everything. i really liked the tea. point is, this amount of food is simply worth the $<9 price tag, and the service was helpful, thoughtful, friendly, and sweet. next time i will try something else.
Kid-friendliness: personally i believe children belong at home or at chuck e. cheese. there is a child of an employee here though, and they are quite polite and well-behaved.“

“friendly atmosphere and great customer service. the food was hot and delicious. Definitely ordering here over my other favorite place.“
“Great food. The vegetables were great. One of the things about stir fried food, is that the veggies often get soft. These vegetables were nice and crisp, not overcooked at all. And the shrimp was very tasty too. The egg rolls were so good, we tried the pork but they have more than one type. The egg drop was so delicious. It has a hint of sesame in it. I had never had any quite like it. Word of warning, the soup and egg rolls are served very hot! I believe it's because they seem to be mostly for to go orders. We ate in and definitely had to wait to eat it.“

“Not a sit and eat place. But they're quick and efficient so wait times are a minimum. I got caught at work the other day and was almost 2 hours late, they remade my order on the spot, i waited maybe 15 minutes. I don't order Chinese food from anywhere else.“

“This Chinese restaurant was fantastic! They delivered late—around 10:44 PM—and everything arrived piping hot and fresh. The woman who took my order spoke excellent English and was incredibly kind. They even included free Chinese donuts, which was such a nice surprise. The delivery driver was polite and friendly. The General Tso’s chicken was amazing, and the crab rangoons were the best I’ve had—just remember to ask for sweet and sour sauce if you like that pairing. Delicious food, great service, and very affordable. I’ll definitely be ordering again!“

“You will not find better Chinese food and service in the area. For a while, I enjoyed the buffet. This place was the hookup during college/covid. I can’t tell you how many nights this place has fed me. The price is reasonable, there are so many things to buy outside of the food, and the take out is actually amazing. I recommend the mango shrimp with lo mien instead of white rice. Best Chinese dish I have had. I am welcomed like family and will never forget this place. Whether you are in college, local, or passing by, give qqs buffet a try. They also deliver!
Parking: Huge commercial lot by McDonald’s“

“One of the best Chinese restaurants in town for take out or delivery. Very generous portions, free soda if you spend a certain amount of money and it is always packaged well and tastes delicious. We have ordered the spare ribs, lo mein, and beef or chicken with broccoli the most. Always a great choice!“

“Only good fried rice in the county, doesn't even need soy or duck sauce. Best chicken wings of any Chinese place anywhere near here. But they will guaranteed burn your boneless spare ribs every time, and they don't deliver at all on Mondays which is the day most people don't want to cook. Egg roll be either dry and burned or burned and greasy. I feel like they have a tendency to sometimes over cook things. This does not extend to their extra crispy wings, which they're the only Chinese place out here that doesn't over cook or burn your wings when you ask for extra crispy“

“One of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever had in my life. Hands down the best bourbon chicken I have ever ordered. Loved everything we ordered and was very surprised how good the food was. I promise anyone reading this they will not be disappointed when choosing New Sun for takeout or to eat in the cafeteria in the mall. Highly recommend trying all the food here and will return for more.“

“It's top notch as far as Chinese takeout dives. It's cleaner looking than most, the food is what it's supposed to be and cooked how it's supposed to be cooked. If you like Americanized-Chinese takeout quality food, this is the best I've had in the area. These places should be noticeably better than buffet quality. I like that they dont over-do the velveting/marinade process to where the meat is slimey and gamey, as some Chinese operators tend to do.“

“Love the fact that they deliver and you don't have to rely on a third party app.
The important key, of course, is the food.
I've tried the Singapore Mei Fun a few times, and it falls a touch flat in the flavor department. Doesn't mean it's bad; it's just lacking the complexity that usually accompanies the dish.
However, the Beef Lo Mein? Might be the absoulte tastiest lo mein I've had outside of a major city.
All that to say I'll wind up trying most of the menu, because even the misses are decent, and the winners are exceptional.“

“The weird one thing I look for to tell if it’s a legitimate Chinese restaurant is something that reminds the owner(s) of home. There’s a huge lit picture of Hong Kong and Kowloon Harbour (taken from the top of Victoria Point) on their wall. They’re Cantonese, and the quality of the food shows their pride in where they’re from. You’re getting the closest thing to authentic Cantonese this side of the ferry to Mui Wo.“
