I moved to the area a little over a year ago and was looking forward to visiting this restaurant. I decided to take my niece for her birthday. Several of us ordered the shrimp pesto. The shrimp was so salty I couldn't even get beyond eating two of them. The service was a little slow even though there were several empty tables around us. We would recommend sitting outside because we were swatting flies off our food inside.

My actual rating = 4.4 / 5. Truly historic ambience. Very clean. Superb though slightly limited microbrewery selections on tap. Artisanal, though again a touch limited, selections on the food menu. The food offerings that I've tried have been very satisfying. Some selections a bit pricey to my mind: a bowl of soup and a draft about $20+ with tip. I am impressed with the fish and chips at JPH: once again artisanal in a good way. One of my demerits is the bar area is exceedingly small -- about 10 seats-- therefore there are often times when there is no space. In fairness there is no obvious or easy fix. In summary: lighting, air quality, service, food quality and microbrewery offerings ALL very, very good. I've outlined a few minor criticisms above.

Meal for 6, including appetizer, drinks, and dessert was $250.00. Unfortunately, rather slow service - complaint by the birthday girl. We arrived at 6 pm, did not get served main course until 7:30 (this was with a reservation). Do not order eggplant parmesan. Chef does not know how to prepare Italian - two big, thick, chewy slabs of eggplant, doused with cheese. Mascarpone bacon dip arrived in a soup of oil, with dry bagels, not toasted (says niece) instead of toasted french baguettes. Several in the group ordered fish and chips, including birthday girl. French fries appeared greasy and soggy as well. Too bad. Menu choices could be more traditional, but that's just my opinion. I wonder how well prepared the steak ($$) is. Alerted the restaurant and the staff several times that this was a birthday dinner but they still forgot. Just me but $310 including tip is a lot for 6 people at a small local restaurant in Pa, however, the building was built in 1785 so historical. Will not return and will not recommend. We traveled from out of state but there has to be other restaurants within 25 miles that are far better and far more affordable.

The Jamison Publick House has always held a special place in my heart. Back when I lived near the farm, it was my go‑to spot... a place where good food, warmth, and a sense of community always greeted me at the door. Stepping inside feels less like dining out and more like coming home.
The food is nothing short of incredible... crafted with care, full of flavor, and served with the kind of hospitality you don’t easily forget. And the ambiance? It’s the kind that wraps around you like an old story, where laughter mingles with candlelight and time slows just enough to savor every bite.
As an author and songwriter, I’m always searching for places that hold a little magic. The Jamison Publick House is one of them. It’s where memories are made, conversations linger, and life feels just a little richer. If you haven’t been, do yourself the favor... you’ll leave with both a full heart and a full plate. Thanks to Mark! Missed you on my last visit!

My wife and I love their homemade cheesecakes. Their espresso martini and dirty martinis are excellent. Never had a bad thing on the menu.

Everything was perfect and ive only given out a 5 star review one other time. Everything had so much flavor. Best cheesecake ive ever had, best pesto shrimp dish too! Definitely a must try! Will definitely need a reservation.
Charming Pennsylvania Inn. Original stonework, posts and beams. Built before the USA was a country. Cauliflower risotto balls were terrific. Nice Salad which is included as are warm from the oven dinner rolls. I had the Chesapeake Chicken. Sautéed chicken breast resting on mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus spears topped with pan juices and lump crab meat.
Our server was very pleasant. My companions both had chicken parmesan which I tasted. It was good. Served with angel hair pasta which was an interesting choice. Very creative menu including Asian inspired dishes but we were all in comfort food mode.
You should go.
