We’ve been here a few times before and usually enjoyed it, but our most recent visit was unfortunately the worst experience we’ve had there.

Service was painfully slow — it took forever just to have our order taken, and even longer for the food to come out. By the time it did, the home fries were stone cold, like they had been sitting out for ages.

The drinks were a disappointment too. We tried a specialty coffee, the lavender lemonade, and a fruit refresher — all of them were so overly sweet they were practically undrinkable. Creative ideas, but very poorly executed.

To make matters worse, our server never once checked in after dropping off the food. We waited another 10–15 minutes after finishing before finally giving up and heading to the register ourselves. The lack of care was really surprising.

It’s a shame, because this place once felt like a fresh and exciting spot for locals, but it’s quickly sliding into “just another average diner” territory. Hopefully management takes note and turns things around, because right now, Café at the Mill is missing the mark.

My go to is always the breakfast blt but everything fell short today, wasn’t even that busy either - many empty tables in the back at 10am. Breakfast BLT was cold as were the potatoes, fruit cup was half bad fruit, and service was very slow and our waitress didn’t check up on us at all after dropping off food. I hope next time it gets better but to say the least, very dissapointed when I know this place used to be great!

Best Sausage Gravy and Biscuits EVER !!! Also love that they bread their own chicken and have so many flavor shots for their drinks. Love the chai lattes, and the choice of coconut or almond milk in alternative to whole milk. The seating options are great too especially the balcony seating where you can see the Lenape Creek, great for if you're walking with your dogs and want a bite to eat, they can come too and sit outside with you while you eat.

Initial service took 30 mins. Food was not very good. Home fries were crispy pieces of breading. Recent experience was not very good, experience before in 2024 much better...

What a wonderful place. We went for breakfast and had our choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is in view of a babbling Brook nearby. Inside seating is high stools and tables. Breakfast was ample portioned and delicious. If you miss the State College Diner grilled stickies, try the cinnamon bun French toast here.

Great breakfast with my friends/coworkers. Carly was a very nice, attentive server.
The only issue was a faulty speaker in the back kept going in and out and was somewhat annoying.

Cute cafe but the pancakes are rubbery and hard to cut. They must be over mixing or using wrong flour. I’ve tried this place twice and both times the pancakes turned out that way….

The prices on their menus aren’t correct either and no one told us until after we got our check and we realized the prices were different. The waitress should tell every customer that the prices on their menus aren’t correct.

Literally order 3 sandwiches and chicken fingers and fries and my bill was $70.

Quite possibly one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The food was fine for the price, but our waitress was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Once seated, she took our drink orders and then got them wrong. It took us almost an hour just to get waters after ordering. Our food came out cold and they didnt bring the last of it until we were almost finished eating. Hopefully the management addresses this issue.
