What a wonderful establishment that has stood the test of time and kept its vibe. Had a lovely time here. Knowledgeable bartender upstairs. Gentle vibe. Love it. Food is good downstairs too.
Went here for a late night dinner since my friend had never had Ethiopian food before and wanted to try it. This is a neighborhood restaurant with 2 bars and a dining room. Both bars were busy. The downstairs bar was updated, but the dining room was pretty nondescript and empty.
I confirmed the kitchen was still open and we sat in the dining room. The server for the dining room was helping out in the downstairs bar so it took a while for him to take our order....

Abyssinia is a cozy Ethiopian restaurant where we ordered the Abyssinia Plate 2 and the meat plate to try a bit of everything. The food was flavorful and satisfying, though the seasoning wasn’t quite as bold or spiced as I’ve come to expect from Ethiopian cuisine. The kitfo, which is traditionally served raw, seemed to be slightly cooked — unexpected, but still enjoyable. The injera was soft and fresh, though it lacked the usual sour tang and purple-blue tint I associate...
