I have enjoyed the authentic cuisine here for years. However, this past Friday after my matinee we experienced a very rude hostess who basically kicked us out of our table because one of the four of us hungry musicians was going to choose a dessert instead of an entree. This employee insisted that we could not sit in dining room if we didn’t ALL order entrees. “What if we wanted to order seven appetizers?”” NO, everyone must order entree!” I’ve never heard of such a thing. So we left and went to a lovely Happy Hour at Estia where we spent over $150.
I ordered food for pickup, and the girl who took my call was nice and patient. However, the place was a bit crowded with no space for people waiting for their food. When I arrived and asked to pay, the girl seemed slightly upset. The food was fine overall.

I was a little weirded out at first to see the price per ounce on pizza. But, paying for a normal size slice, it was a little over four dollars which is fair. The fungi pizza was nicely done with a generous amount of mushrooms with really creamy rich cheese sauce.

More Italian than Italian-American in both style of pizza and taste AND in the way it is sold. "To the cut" means the customer chooses the size of the slice by guiding the server ("a little smaller/bigger"), who initially places the knife, at a random point on the pizza. They then weigh the slice and I assume charge by the ounce.
Normally, a wide variety of good-quality and very tasty rectangular sheet-pan pizza with plenty of choices for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.
Service is always friendly and attentive--after reheating the slices they then take the time to cut them in half before serving them to make it all-the-more easier to eat.
The cons:
1) Place is fairly small so if crowded, a bit difficult to get close enough to the counter to properly peruse the selections before ordering.
2) The pizzas are fully cooked and the crust is fairly thin so when they reheat them they tend to get too crispy for my tastes. To prevent this, I ask that they not make them fully hot.
3) It's not cheap (not super-expensive but fairly expensive).

I had a couple of slices for lunch. Interesting concept , pizza is priced by weight so get as big or small a piece as you like. I had a slice of mushroom which was just too sweet to be great, slice of philly special was fine.

The lady serving us was excellent and so was the food. Close to the Marion Anderson Hall.

Party of 6, waitress entirely forgot one order. The order didn’t come out until everyone else had finished. No apology, nothing comped, and attitude from the waitress, oh do you still want that?

The staff was very nice. Very cute atmosphere. The seating is very tight where the tables are. I could smell the wine from the table next to us. That’s how close it is. And for some odd reason they sat everyone next to each other when there was more than enough seating. I had the pepperoni pizza. It wasn’t anything to write home about. A bit on the crunchy side. Portion sizing for the pizzas were great. 2 people could share a personal. It’s fresh but not too flavorful.

Enjoy the place
We were looking for a pizza place close to our hotel just before 9pm- according to the reviews it was well rated, so we had to try it. We had the Fall Sangria, the Diavola pizza and a pasta dish with pesto (was a special and not usually on the menu) let’s start with the drinks…it did what it intended to do…had a good kick and some great flavor, the pasta came out and we immediately dug in…the pasta itself was smooth and so soft and the pesto on it was an absolutely great match…the winner however was the pizza. If you don’t like crispy base pizza then this is not your place. The base was extremely crispy…it was so good. It has to be in the top 10 best pizzas I have ever had. At no stage did it go soggy and remained crispy. Seriously will recommend this place. Noted…we had a sit down dinner and ordered from the menu. You can order slices and eat at a separate area on the restaurant. I cannot comment on the already baked slices but the one we ordered was perfect.

A piece of Rome in the heart of Philadelphia. Pizza "like at home" quality comparable to the Italian one. The kindness and courtesy of the staff are an added value. An obligatory stop to forget American fast food

Ask my why I ordered and ate 6 different slices of pizza at this restaurant.
Because I could, and because they were GOOD.
I am one of those people who secretly judges you for not eating your pizza crust, meaning I enjoy crust, even when it's subpar. I also have the benefit of a culinary background and have worked with a gentleman who has been consultant for many pizza chefs/restaurants. I won't bore you with the details, but the man knows his stuff.
So, I can appreciate a wide range of crust qualities. Why am I telling you all of this? Because not only are the toppings offered here fresh, flavorful, and well balanced, the crust is light, airy, crunchy, hearty, chewy, and fluffy, all at once, and all in a pleasing ratio.
So, when I ordered 6 slices of pizza, it was because my eyes were bigger than my stomach. But, when I finished all six, in one sitting, it was because the pizza was delicious and satisfying without being heavy or dense. Heck, I surprised myself! Moral of the story, I will be back to try more pizza here, and to check out the gelati and pastries, which also look fantastic!
