Few experiences can claim to transcend the ordinary, elevating a simple meal to an epicurean odyssey that imprints upon the soul. Yet, the Alpen Rose, a Michael Schulson Collective restaurant, under the stewardship of the consummate professional Eric Sailor and his dedicated team, does just that, crafting not merely a dining experience but a symphony of flavors, service, and ambiance that resonates with the essence of culinary artistry. From the moment of our arrival, where the specter of a missed opportunity due to unforeseen circumstances loomed, Alpen Rose emerged as a beacon of hospitality, demonstrating an exceptional commitment to guest satisfaction. Eric's personal involvement in securing our reservation was not merely a service but a testament to the restaurant's ethos of going beyond the call of duty. Our culinary adventure included an exquisitely curated 32oz Dry Aged Porter House, a testament to the chef's mastery over the flame, ensuring a perfect sear while preserving the tenderness and depth of flavor that aficionados of fine meats cherish. Accompanied by the Filet Mignon, each bite was a revelation, an ode to the culinary arts that left us in awe.The Forest Mushrooms and Pomme Puree were not mere sides but co-stars in this gastronomic ballet, each bringing its unique texture and flavor to complement the main courses. The Grilled Asparagus, alight with the perfect char, and the Clover Roll, with its intoxicating blend of honey butter and sea salt, completed a tableau of flavors that was nothing short of transcendent.Dessert was a continuation of this culinary narrative, with the Cheesecake Mousse offering a creamy, dreamlike quality and the Pineapple Upside Down Alaska served as a fiery, sweet denouement to a meal that will linger in memory long after the last bite. But it was not just the food that made our experience unparalleled. It was the human touch, the genuine care, and the attention to detail that Eric and his team exemplified. The surprise off-menu dish, Taleggio Prosciutto Agnolottia, was a gesture of pure hospitality and a culinary equivalent of a serenade, an unexpected delight that spoke of the chef's passion, creativity, and love for his patrons.Alpen Rose is not just a restaurant; it is a sanctuary where the art of cooking is revered, where guests are not merely diners but cherished participants in a gastronomic ballet choreographed with skill, love, and a touch of magic. It is here that my wife and I found not just culinary excellence but a moment in time that will be etched in our hearts forever, a testament to the power of food to celebrate life's milestones, to heal, to unite, and to express love in its most delicious form.Thank you Eric Sailor and the entire Alpen Rose team for a night we will never forget!

An exceptional dinner from start to finish. We came on a double date to celebrate my partners birthday and had a wonderful time. Robbie was our server and was very attentive to our needs and answered any questions we had. I love the "speak-easy" vibe here- the classic, timeless decor, the book shelves and the old timey dishes. Even though it's a newer restaurant, it looks and feels like an old steak house that could have existed in Philadelphia for 100 years. The drinks were amazing and well crafted. To start, we shared the beef tartare, tuna carpaccio, bone marrow toast and the pasta special- all were delicious but the bone marrow toast really stood out. My partner and I shared a porterhouse steak for dinner which was perfect for 2 people. I love how they expertly carved it table side! We got several sides for the table with dinner which was also perfect for our party of 4. For dessert we enjoyed the strawberry rhubarb pie, also great to share, and we actually had to take the rest home because it was pretty big. (Ate it for breakfast hehe) 10/10 would recommend this place to eat and will certainly be sure to come back!

I took my husband here for his 40th birthday dinner! The atmosphere at this place was very cozy and elegant. The noise level was normal! The hostess was very lovely and friendly upon our arrival. Our waiter Chris was exceptional, he was very promptly, informative and giving us suggestions as we were there for the first time! The food was absolutely delightful! We enjoyed everything we ordered. Definitely a must try the bone marrow toast and their delicious dry aged steaks! Chris was extremely personal in bringing my husband a little candle with their delicious sorbet! We will most definitely be back!Kid-friendliness: The whole staff was very friendly

You could walk by and never know it’s even there the tik tok famous steakhouse in Philly Alpen Rose ?. Ring the bell to this speak east style steakhouse and a head peaks out a secret door. Enter into an elegant dinning experience in this quaint restaurant. Roughly 16 tables and a small bar with dim lights leave you in awe as the dinning experience is amazing. Make sure to get some of the famous delicacies in the pictures. Can’t wait to go back!

The food at the restaurant was excellent, but our experience was severely impacted by the bartender’s unfriendly attitude. Despite being skilled at making cocktails, the bartender appeared disinterested and failed to provide good customer service. Their demeanor significantly dampened the mood and left us feeling unwelcome. It’s disappointing that such great food was overshadowed by such poor service.

Surprisingly poor service by the hostess when making our reservation. She asks about dietary restrictions. We say vegetarian and her response with attitude is “you do know this is a steakhouse right?”. The answer to her question was yes because we typically don’t make reservations by accident. Owner/management should probably consider some employee training in hospitality.

We went out to dinner with another couple and it was such a fun experience. It is a steak house so you should get steak at this place. Also, well mad and delicious cocktails. The atmosphere feels like you are in a chalet in the Alps. It was truly a fun evening and we will be going back. You do need to reserve several weeks ahead.

Alpen Rose: A Culinary Gem Where Steaks Reign SupremeAlpen Rose isn't just a restaurant; it's an experience. From the moment you step through the door, you're transported to a world of elegant ambiance and exceptional service. But let's be honest, the star of the show is the food, and it delivers a standing ovation. The tomahawk steaks are what legends are made of. Imagine a succulent, perfectly marbled behemoth, cooked to your liking and bursting with flavor. Each bite is a symphony of textures and tastes, leaving you wanting more (but probably needing a nap!).Beef Wellington? More like beef perfection. The pastry crust was flaky and golden, encasing a tender, juicy center that melted in your mouth. This dish is a testament to culinary artistry, and Alpen Rose executes it flawlessly. The service was just as impressive as the food. Attentive yet unobtrusive, our server guided us through the menu with expertise and genuine warmth. They made us feel valued and ensured our experience was truly unforgettable.Alpen Rose isn't just for special occasions, although it would be perfect for one. It's a place where you can indulge in the finer things, savor exceptional food, and experience service that goes above and beyond. If you're looking for a truly memorable dining experience, Alpen Rose is a must-try.
