Now this is REAL Ethiopian/ Eritrean food. I will be making this my go to spot when I need that taste of home.

I’m bummed because I previously loved their food and always recommended Amsale, but yesterday we waited 45min for a veggie combo and sambusa takeout that were refrigerator-cold. We called and politely asked if it was supposed to be cold and were told “due to the weather we are not heating vegetarian items, you should microwave it”. It was 75 out, but not sure what that would mean even in a temp extreme. My partners beef dish was lukewarm, but very tasty! Unfortunately after reheating the veg combo was much blander than in the past. I really want to support Amsale but won’t order takeout again. Not everyone eats takeout at home with a microwave. The BYOB dine in experience is great though.

Came here once to eat awful service. Very slow. Move with no urgency and not to my expectation but just mediocre hospitality. Short answers and did not discuss foods. I came here again to pick up a DoorDash order they told me “oh we haven’t startled it yet” ok no problem how much longer? “10minutes” I wrote this review bc I am 45 minutes later

Great people with great personalities. The food is delicious. The injera is homemade, light, and tasty made from Teff.

We had the vegetarian platter and it was delicious, authentic flavors and so much food.

Awful place. Waited over 1.5 hours for a delivery order. Then they decided to cancel the order. Completely unacceptable and unprofessional.

If you are incapable of fulfilling orders, don't put yourself on a food service app.

Best Ethiopian food in Philly in my opinion. We had the Kitfo, Meat combination, and Veggie combination platter. I'm coming back for sure. They offer 100% teff injiria if you're gluten free.

Simple, delicious Ethiopian food in solid portions. Service was great and it wasn’t expensive. Also the tea was amazing, 10/10.

Amsale Cafe on Walnut Street is a hidden gem in West Philly that brings a burst of Ethiopian flavor to the neighborhood. The place has a warm, inviting vibe, and the menu is full of rich, aromatic dishes that make your taste buds do a happy dance. From perfectly spiced lentils to injera that’s just right, every bite feels like a hug from the kitchen. It’s the kind of spot where you can relax, enjoy a comforting meal, and feel right at home.

It was fun to try something new tonight with my daughter. We got Qey Wot lamb and Kitfo ground beef, with a size of meat Sambusa. It was all so delicious and a medium spiciness. I think we enjoyed the lamb a little better than the beef. The service was very friendly. The neighborhood was a little sketchy but fine during the day. Overall very good experience.
