I really wanted so badly to support black business but this business is exactly why it’s hard it’s a lack of professionalism and accountability. They literally don’t care! I gave them multiple opportunities at different times over time and was left we overcooked & burnt food on multiple occasions. Not only that the staff is completely rude and nasty. The last occasion I ordered through an app and they completely stole my money & left me with no food. This business should not be supported it’s really bad for our black community. They need to be shut down & restart all over again with new ppl and more education in business this ain’t it.

I love mac n cheese but it was super sweet and definitely should have spend my last 20 dollars on McDonald's.I went online and the side of mac was 3 dollars then I went in the place and saw menu and it oʻwas 5 dollars, then inside when paid in person they charge me was 6 dollars a side so I decided to get it cuz I love mac n cheese but very very disappointed.

As someone who loves to support Black-owned businesses, I always go in with high hopes, eager to support the community. Unfortunately, my experience at Big Boys on F and the Blvd. in Philly was disappointing, leaving me with mixed feelings.

We decided to try their chicken sandwich platter, which was good, but not great. The chicken was flavorful, but the lettuce could have been fresher—something as simple as crisp, fresh greens could have elevated the whole dish. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

The real letdown came with the side dishes accompanying the turkey wing platter. The yams were overwhelmingly sweet, which seemed like an attempt to mask the flavor of potatoes that were clearly past their prime. It felt like a rushed attempt to cover up the lack of freshness. As for the mac & cheese, it was a major disappointment. It was overcooked and likely had been reheated several times, losing the creamy texture and richness that fresh mac & cheese should have.

I also want to point out that while I could sense the passion for cooking and serving the community, that same passion didn’t seem to translate into a commitment to delivering the best food possible. Social media had painted a picture of something far more polished, but the reality didn’t match the expectation. The food portions were fine, but the preparation was poor.

I really wanted to see Big Boys thrive, but given the state of the food and the establishment, I’m not confident they’ll be around in a year.

Nice staff. Clean establishment. However “baked” Mac and cheese actually tasted like boxed macaroni. Super soupy and had the nerve to sprinkle season on top. Collard greens taste like greens out of the can. Tried to be supportive of a black owned business and was extremely dissatisfied.
