EDIT: New review as of Nov 2025. Brunics is a shell of what it once was, I unfortunately can’t recommend the chicken cutlet sandwich anymore. The sandwich is now just some reheated premade cutlet that really wasn’t appetizing, and there’s no longer an option for broccoli rabe.
Brunics has turned into more of a run of the mill takeout breakfast spot. The breakfast sandwiches are your standard Philly fare on a long roll. I find the process a bit high for what you are getting, but they are there for when you’re in a pet and just need a quick takeout or breakfast, and that counts for something, especially in a neighborhood that no longer has a 24 hour diner option (RIP Melrose!).
OLD REVIEW (2018) Great sandwiches! Easy to overlook this spot. Great staple in the neighborhood, and being able to call ahead is great! Best Philly-style breakfast and sandwich spot this side of Broad. Prices are a little high compared to the corner stores that offer food, but the quality is outstanding. Get the Chicken Cutlet with Broccoli Rabe!

I ordered food for pick up. They charged me. They sent a confirmation with a pick up time. When I got there they had no order for me and said they didn’t hear their tablet alert them to my order. Totally wasted my time.

A staple South Philly small business that deserves all 5 of the stars in this review. The food is great in a pinch with fast and great service. My go to is a BEC sandwich, but their scrapple is amazing too!! I won’t even speak on the French toast sticks…to die for. Great business all around.

Strange as you have to order through a little window, but I was pleasantly surprised. No coffee facilities at my apartment when staying here so nipped out to these guys in the morning for coffee and breakfast. Friendly people, remembered what had I ordered when I came back the next day.

Ordered a chicken cutlet sandwich. Truly grim. Barely any meat. And the chicken if you can even call it that was a skinny cold hard slab with barely any meat. Nearly burnt. Shoved onto a massive bun with iceberg lettuce. Dry. Really disappointing. Ambiance is also bizarre. You have to order through a barred window.
Great fast service for takeout. My new go to spot for breakfast.

Will never order from this place again. Food burnt, cold and missing my fish! They made the mistake but want me to pay for it! Never…$13 for this and the guy on the phone was rude. Kept over talking me. I can definitely tell they are new owners that brought a good name and ruining the business! Update the owner reached out to me personally and apologize and remade the food for the next day. I’ve posted a new picture of the platter I appreciate the follow up and corrective action.

The worst brunch you could ever imagine! The home fries were soggy, unflavored slop. Eggs tastes like rubber. I didn’t actually think brunch could go as wrong as it did here. The ratings led me here but I must warn you not to go or you will be disappointed and angry to waste your money.
