Stumbled upon an authentic Vietnamese hole-in-the-wall gem! Their pho and bún bò Huế are the real deal—rich, flavorful, and made just right. Washed it down with a perfectly bold Vietnamese coffee. Pure comfort in every sip and bite. Cash only and plenty of time parking. Use the lot that is near by as it is free for 2 hours. They also have a restroom.
Café Diem in South Philly is hands down our favorite spot for Vietnamese food, especially their Bún bò Huế. My wife and I have tried this dish at countless places, and nowhere even comes close to the rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced bowl they serve here. The broth is deep and aromatic, the meat is tender, and the spice hits just right. On top of that, the service is always warm and welcoming—it truly feels like being served by family. Absolutely delicious food. They made it as close to Vietnam as they can, given the ingredients. The place is cash only, though. No venmo, no means of digital payment. I was surprised. One of us needed to walk to a nearby ATM to get cash.
