The best Mexican restaurant outside of Mexico!

My boyfriend and I visited this restaurant during Valentine’s Day weekend and were so excited to try some new Mexican food, but unfortunately it did not live up to the hype. The drinks were the only good thing at this restaurant. We waited over an hour to be seated even after making reservations in advance. The server was completely unattentive. He only visited our table once to get our initial order and we never saw him again until we waved over at him to get our check. The food was okay, and would have wanted it to be hot when it got to our table (very upsetting). Also, beware of the neighborhood as there were sketchy things happening on every single corner including right in front of the restaurant. There were also a ton of homeless people wandering on the street in front of the restaurant, which is something I definitely would have wanted to know before visiting.

Food was ok. I tried a cocktail, tacos and guacamole. And I was underwhelmed. It's in a really rough part of town.

This restaurant was in the Philadelphia restaurant list at # 5. Both my husband and I follow this list and often frequent the list restaurants. We booked a hotel overnight and planned a dinner there. We were very disappointed with just about everything and not sure how it made its way just under Her place supper club which we went to in the fall. The location unfortunately is not ideal with drug deals right outside the door. The server was friendly and fairly attentive but good didn’t seem fresh and it was just ok. The location and what we saw going on around it would definitely keep us from returning.

Food was pretty good but because of the service I won’t be back. The waiter repeatedly messed up our order and blamed all of us instead of just bringing us what we actually asked for. He laughed in our faces when we corrected him and had a very nasty attitude. My friends and I tried hard not to let it ruin our evening but the back and forth was very unnecessary. To top it all off, we were told happy hour was over at 5:43 when it was advertised to end at 6pm. None of us will be returning. I was excited to try this place but they really need to do better. So disappointed.
Delighted with this place. Must try their guacamole sampler with three types. Went for lunch yesterday and everything was terrific. Found parking right around the corner.

The food was delicious and authentic, absolutely. Further for my review is the quality of the people working there. We went for a Monday lunch, so it was a slow time. Being that the location is in a central part of high drug use in Kensington, we saw a few come into the restaurant who were not there for the food. However, the bartender and manager on shift treated every person with dignity and meeting people’s needs with respectful boundaries. As a couple that works in human services, we both admired the way in which they treated people as people. Thank you for setting an example as being quality humans that also happen to serve quality food. We will absolutely be back!

The customer service here is not good!
The hostess was disrespectful to my wife, until he realized she was with a man. Please Avoid by all means!!!!!

I attended a meeting at this place, because of high blood pressure medication I had to use the bathroom before I was seated, I was profiled and told I’m not a paying customer.
I was so embarrassed in front of my colleagues I just walked out.

Welcoming oasis of artisan cuisine where such fare seems sparse. Directly across from Somerset station on the Market-Frankford line, this Latin-American restaurant is clean and quaint with a large outdoor dining area open spring through fall. Happy hour is every weekday, from 4-6pm, and boasts $1 fish, veggie, and carnitas tacos that shouldn't be missed. If there is a brand of tequila that they don't serve, then it's probably not worth drinking. Highly recommend this restaurant for casual dining as well as a fancy dinner date.

Awesome tacos, guacamole and salsa verde! We had cantina la Martina cater lunch for my department at lunch. We ordered taco boxes and everything was delicious. They were very accommodating.
Absolutely fantastic. The food was amazing and the presentation was well thought out and clever. A really good quality drinks. On the pricey side, but well worth the money.

Arrived at 3:30 on a Saturday and handed a dinner menu. No prices are listed online along with the hours they switch to dinner. Very overpriced and disappointing

My partner picked this restaurant for my birthday dinner and it was a delicious surprise! We loved the tinga tostadas and the “tres amores” chicken trio. The chicken was very tender and juicy. The rice and beans were a nice addition! My partner liked his Mezcal old fashioned. I like the decorations and fun ambience!! Our server, Mike, was SO kind and even gave me a slice of tres leches cake to go for my birthday.
