The food here is very good, and it’s a nice place to bring family. However, I was disappointed to find out after dining that they only accept cash. Throughout the building it’s posted that all major credit cards are accepted, so I expected to be able to pay that way. On top of that, the menu had no prices listed, which made it hard to plan. While the food was enjoyable, having to use the little bit of cash I had instead of my credit card was frustrating.

Overall, the experience was not as I expected.
The chicken and shrimp with garlic was lukewarm, not hot. The tostones were hot, but had to send them back and get new ones bc they added adobo even though I had ordered them without salt. (Guess they don’t know abodo has a lot of salt!)
The pernil was lukewarm and had a funny taste, not freshly made, more like it was left over from the day before. The rice and beans were good. The mofongo was good.
Be aware: the menu doesn’t have prices and we had to pay in cash even though they have credit card logos listed at the door and by the cashier. Apparently, they don’t accept credit cards on the weekends. There is no sign posted that says this. I suggested to the host to let people know before they order that they only accept cash despite the credit card logos being posted, and her answer was, but we have an ATM machine. I asked if it was free and she said no. So moral of the story, make sure you bring cash with you if you want to eat here and be sure to reinforce any dietary restrictions you may have more than once to ensure they get it right.

Chuletas guisadas con habichuelas rojas were excellent. Mofongo was so so. Plantains were a tad too ripe for mofongo. But overall good.
They’re a cash business, which they didn’t tell me until AFTER I had my bill in had.
Neighborhood is questionable, but you do what you gotta do for Dominican food.

I’ve been a customer for over a year and I feel confident saying that casa del mofongo is one of the best Dominican restaurants I’ve tried in Philadelphia, the maduros can be under cooked but I’ve noticed that’s a regular occurrence among Dominican restaurants.

The Worst Dining Experience of My Life — Avoid at All Costs
This place should come with a health warning. First, my food showed up with a hair on top of my salad, Absolutely revolting. Then my husband’s “fresh fish” smelled like it had been dead for a week and dragged through a landfill.
When we complained, instead of apologizing, The owner come to the table argued with us and proudly announced they had “tasted the fish themselves” that’s very disgusting and found nothing wrong. Honestly, that explains a lot about the quality standards here — if rotting fish taste normal to them, I don’t even want to imagine what their kitchen looks like.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would, it was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. My dish came out with a hair in it — absolutely unacceptable and disgusting. As if that wasn’t bad enough the fish reeked of decomposition.
They’re serving spoiled fish and gaslighting customers into thinking it’s fine?
Save your time, your money, and your health — DO NOT EAT HERE. This place isn’t just bad — it’s dangerous. Save yourself the trauma. Eat literally anywhere else.
Absolutely Disgusting Experience!

Food was ok nothing special. They also didn’t have everything on the menu. Over priced for what we ordered and I don’t like the fact that the menu does not have prices. They can basically charge you anything. I also ordered an octopus salad which had canned octopus, I honestly don’t mind it but don’t charge the price for fresh octopus. Won’t be coming back.

I told my cousin from Puerto Rico about this spot because I seen pictures about it and told her that I wanted to visit it when she came down from Puerto Rico. We placed an order and had to wait an hour and a half, but because we had high hopes of this food being so good we decided to wait When we receive the food The packaging was fine But when we opened up the carne Frita We noticed how overcooked the The meat was The flavor was good, but the meat was extremely hard and dry. Also the tostones Were Just full of pepper and a huge Ball of garlic thrown on top of the tostones. This was extremely sad being as though I Was excited to try this place with my cousin, and this was a total letdown.

Went there with a friend. Although the food was very good, there were items on the menu that were unavailable. My friend loves their Sancocho (soup).

I ordered from this place through Doordash and it was the worst experience ever. I had asked the Doordasher to get utensils and napkins, but he told me that they refused to give him any even though he asked them multiple times. On top of it the empanada that I got was super salty, the chicken breast was tough to chew, and the mofongo was bland. I've ordered twice from this place, but I won't ever again.
