***FOOD QUALITY AND SERVICE GONE WAY DOWNHILL***

Casa del Mofongo 2 used to be one of my favorite spots in NE Philly. However, I decided to eat there yesterday after not going for several months and things have really made a turn for the worse. First, we got the wrong soup (shrimp when we ordered fish). Instead of proactively taking the soup back and bringing us what we actually ordered, the server at first tried to make it seem like it was our fault and that we had ordered shrimp in the first place. However, because we were hungry and the soup had been good in the past no matter the main ingredient, we decided to just keep it. Well, turns out the soup has changed and tasted sour and not as flavorful as I remembered. The mofongo w/ mariscos was also so salty that it was difficult to finish. Quality of food has gone downhill for sure. And to make things even worse, for that service, THEY CHARGED AN AUTOMATIC 15% GRATUITY on our bill (and we were only a party of 2 people). I think ownership has changed because I did not recognize any of the staff there. This is no longer the same restaurant I once enjoyed and I will never be coming back.

I hope the few dollars you got from us was worth it. Because I think you will be missing out on way more from the potential customers lost because of this review.

Stopped in with my husband to have a light late lunch. I guess since when we said hello in Spanish they noticed that we are not Dominican they didn't want to serve us I had to get up and ask for someone to take our order we were the only customers so they were not busy. They serve us our food with no utensils i had to ask for it and a slice of lime for pork chicharon and was given a whole lime cut in three burnt Maduros completely black burnt. Never checked on again and I had to get up to request bill. They added 15% tip to bill then hand me the receipt to sign with a line for more tip. Ah nah that 15% for shifty service and soft cuero on chicharon and burnt Maduros was way too generous so if you not Dominican don't go for sit down service....

Varied menu, and everything I’ve gotten here smells, looks, and tastes great! I’ve ordered for myself to eat there, and takeout for guests, and special occasions. Everyone there is very nice, and accommodating, in a family friendly environment. Highly recommend!

I would of given a 10 stars if available
We went for the seafood salad. Omg talk about the taste of freshness in the food . Everything cut up , into pieces fish, octopus, and shrimp. Serves with tostones. The tostones were fresh not stale not hard it was made when ordered so you can taste the fried plantain it just melted in my mouth with every bite. Definitely you should try it .
