Very very loud! Hard to carry on a conversation. Drinks are superb and vegan food is delicious. Servers have great personalities
Went last night. I'm not vegan but food was excellent- especially the meatballs, empanadas and fries. Service was very good as well.
This is a great place! The staff is friendly and efficient. The food and drinks never disappoint!
It was my second time coming here. My wife has anaphylactic food allergies and that's the first thing our server asked. We felt safe, great ambiance, amazing food and excellent server. Highly recommend Charlie was a sinner for anyone with allergies or a vegan preference!
We haven't been to Charlie was a sinner for awhile, but once again it did not disappoint! The food is outstanding and the wait staff was fantastic. Our server took some time to chat with us and get the feel for what we were looking for this evening. We definitely won't let too much time go by before we go back!
Vegan menu...good quality and quantity of food served tapas style. Creative preparation. Extremely noisy --half the restaurant is the bar. Very dark.
We ordered the oyster mushroom calamari, the meatballs, the bao buns, and the potato croquettes. We also indulged in dessert. We ordered the chocolate pot de creme and the creme brulee. Everything was wonderful and we left completely satisfied. If we had room, we would have ordered more!
A favorite spot we visit whenever we are in Philly - never disappoints on food, service and ambiance. Highly recommend!
Really loved the food. Service was not so great. There seemed to be only 1-2 waiters for the entire restaurant. We ordered drinks, which didn't come until we were well into our food. (Simple glass of wine and a beer) Second glass of wine never appeared. One food item never arrived, but was noticed while we were ordering dessert. They kindly gave it to us to-go, no charge. Food was great. They really need to hire more staff.
My boyfriend and I have been here twice now, and it is one of our most favorite spots in the city! This time, we went to celebrate his birthday, and they brought out sorbet (on the house) with a candle. It was super cute and the sorbet was delicious! We have tried almost every single drink on the menu, and every single one is absolutely amazing. The food is also delicious and seriously incredible! Although it's small plates, you are super full by the end. The best drinks and food in town! Personal favorites include: the cougar and escape velocity cocktails, the sliders, the rendezvous (the mushroom pate specifically is incredible), and the kofta.

First of all, I was confused because this place does not mention "vegan" or "plant based" anywhere on their website, I found it here. I guess they are trying to appeal to the general public. The server said they are mostly known as a cocktail bar, but also tapas as a secondary. I enjoyed the croquettes (tasty, though not that inventive) and the eggplant bao buns. The carrots were good, but I think they would've been better served hot, not cold. The mushroom tacos were mostly black beans, the biggest disappointment. Wish I'd had room for dessert!

The vegan food is amazing. I love going to restaurants where I can order anything on the menu. The house cocktails are really delicious also.
We ended our night at @charlie_was , Philly’s iconic all-vegan cocktail bar — and what a vibe. 🌙✨ After dinner at Vedge, we grabbed a seat at the bar and were immediately drawn into the show — the bartenders were absolute artists. Anthony was our guy and made the experience unforgettable. The drink list is extensive, but they’ll also create something totally off-menu just for you. I had the COUGAR — orchata vodka, rose vermut, strawberry shrub, lemon, and Charlie’s egg white. Sweet, floral, creamy — absolutely perfect. Hubby went bold with the ESCAPE VELOCITY — tobacco-infused scotch, sweet vermouth, cherry heering, and orange bitters. Smoky, deep, and complex. I’m not a dessert person, so for “dessert,” I enjoyed the 🥔 POTATO CROQUETTES with chipotle aioli — like a creamy, fried potato purée. I loved it. Hubby wished they had a bit more texture inside, but I was fully sold. An atmospheric, moody lounge with incredible cocktails, talented bartenders, and fully vegan everything?
