I understand why this is a Philly institution… you walk in and feel like you’ve transported back in time! Handwritten menu on the wall with no prices, food being prepared right in front of you.
Finally stopped in for lunch and got a hot beef & cheese (sharp provolone). While I love the modern day sandwich shops with crazy creative combinations, nothing beats a high quality yet simple sandwich like this. Fresh meat, roll, everything about it hit the spot. Added a bag of chips for $1 (sandwich was $15). My friend got the turkey special and loved it as well.
I will absolutely come back in the future whenever I’m craving a roast beef sandwich!

This is a very interesting place. I don’t mean the “hmmm… interesting “ you get from your partner when your attempted fusion cooking fails. This place radiates atmosphere; they don’t even a printed food menu, just several deli style sandwiches written on a board — roast meat (pork, or beef) with cheese, chicken salad, tuna salad. I didn’t give five stars for food because of the limited selection, but the pork one was tasty ands filling. The draught beer selection was outstanding— I had the Oktoberfest 🍺 by Founders. I sipped a bit of the pumpkin spice beer, which was very well done. There were bottles and a fully stocked bar. The bartender was friendly and knowledgeable. The perfect neighbourhood pub, if you happen to be around ! I’ll definitely stop by when I’m at the Philly station next.

I love this bar. The service is great! The bartenders are amazing. Especially Misty!! I made a great friend by going here on Friday afternoons when I go to meet my boyfriend on Fridays after work. We always have their food. Pork sandwiches and roast beef sandwiches are delicious. The owner is a great guy and always makes you feel at home as soon as you walk in Cherry Street!!’ I also love their music. They play all the old classics and some recent stuff as well.

Great food and great atmosphere! It’s definitely a neighborhood bar where I always feel like we’re treated like family. If you want fancy and pretentious, go somewhere else. The staff is quality and old school in the best way!

We were having a great time and trying to play music on the jukebox. We were truly disappointed when we tried to play some Kendrick Lamar songs and they were skipped each time. When we inquired, we were told that the owner was older and didn’t appreciate that music…but we’re in the middle of Philadelphia? It didn’t sit right with me. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s why I didn’t see POC there.

Posted hours were incorrect. Arrived at 1230 on a Sunday. Doors were locked and it was completely dark inside
The woman bartender with curly hair was one of the rudest people i have ever met. Never had I dealt with such a disrespectful worker in my life. My friends and I used to love going to cherry street tavern however will never be returning due to her horrendous attitude. Every other person who works there is nice and attentive.
