This was my third visit and Chez Hansi is now undoubtedly among my Philly favorites. I have tried the tajine de legumes, jaegerschnitzel, summer gazpacho with black olives, and jambalaya— all to die for, no notes! The service is superb (attentive husband/wife duo who check in on your experience and every time have treated me to a small app on the house), the portions are very generous, and the ambiance is just right… you will feel as though you stumbled into an authentic European bistro without having to leave Philly! Chez Hansi is BYOB, so bring along your favorite bottle of wine to go along with the delicious food (there is a liquor store on the same block too if you are running late or did not have anything at home). Cannot wait for next time.
Vegetarian options: Tajine de legumes, several appetizers that can be combined into a substantial meal

Every dinner we have eaten at Chez Hansi has been fantastic! In addition to the delicious food, the vibe of the restaurant is welcoming and intimate, thanks to Hans and Samira’s hospitality. We asked Samira to bake desserts for our wedding: lemon tart and chocolate mousse cake. They helped us figure out the portions and lent us their pan, knife, and serving spatula. The lemon tart and chocolate mousse cake were incredibly delicious and very popular with our guests. Thank you Chez Hansi!!!

Top quality service, excellent menu, dining room and kitchen feel like one, and the food was perfect! Like dining in Europe in all the best ways. Our table had the sweetbread, gazpacho (pictured), bone marrow with chimichurri, jagerschnitzel (pictured) and venison schnitzel both with spaetzle, and two very fresh desserts - the highlight being the lemon tart (pictured). We spoke with chef/owners at the end of the meal and I can't recommend this place more highly! We'll be back to try to Cordon Bleu and many other plates

The service and friendliness of this mom & pop shop are unmatched. We truly felt like we became part of the family with Hansi (the chef) and his wife, our waitress. They’re such an adorable couple and they truly care about crafting a nice time. She is from Morocco and he is from Germany, so the food itself is an interesting mix of inspirations.
The bread we started with as a lovely olive bread that was toasted to perfection. Next came the Caesar salad- such a huge portion. Not as sardine-forward as typical and fairly lemony but a nice texture to the lettuce. The schnitzel was great with the spaetzle. The wasabi flavored salmon also had a wonderful texture.
We were super full by the dessert menu so we were sent home with complimentary dessert.
The spot is BYOB and they offer a 10% discount card to Rex down the street.
The food is just served with such care that it was overall such a lovely experience and would easily visit the two again.

It’s a nice small area in the city! I definitely wanted to try a meal that night that was culturally different from my usual orders and this did it! This place does a great job of making you feel like you’re in the European city and service was very friendly!Food choices are definitely different but great to experience

We made a 7 man reservation at 9pm for I and a friend’s birthday. We enjoyed a chefs tasting menu since it was so late and, from that, I can say that every dish here is made exceptionally well. Every morsel of food was an amazing experience and a blend of complex flavors. The pasta and protein was hearty and cooked to perfection, and the desserts were phenomenal. The fusion of savory and sweet is utilized masterfully at Chez Hansi, in a way I’ve never never experienced before. I ofttimes had to look at the kitchen in shock, since I couldn’t believe that the meal was coming from one (incredibly skilled) chef in a home sized kitchen. This place is an experience, and anyone looking to have exceptional food should be excited to eat at Chez Hansi. Maybe even honored.

Came for restaurant week. Great restaurant. Food was great. Service was amazing. They very much take care of their guest. Chef works miracles all by himself. The servers ensured we always had water and bread. Well worth it for a night out in Philly. BYOB place so that’s always a plus. Will definitely return.

Went during restaurant week with friends, grabbing an early reservation. Cozy place with intimate seating and chill atmosphere. Wait staff and chef were very attentive, pleasant, and accessible. Definitely recommend for not only good but the experience of tender and careful service. All 3 courses were delicious - cooked and seasoned with distinct flavors. Will definitely visit again!
