New owners I guess because they changed the menu. Food was nasty. It’s a shame because I ordered a lot but haven’t since that bad experience. I wish they would go back to the cook they had before.
I’ve got Singapore platter and it was delicious too just like I ask them to cook it for me hands up to China King.😘

Chinese food, at its best, is balance—salt, spice, sweetness, depth. It is theater and comfort at once, a cuisine that carries thousands of years of refinement. Even the humblest street stall in Japan can produce a bowl of fried rice or noodles that sings with life. At China King in Philadelphia, what I found was not refinement, not even comfort, but a hollow imitation.
The food here is stripped of vitality. Flavors are flat, textures limp, sauces heavy without soul. Instead of harmony, there is only excess—oil where there should be balance, salt where there should be nuance. It is not simply disappointing, it is disheartening. Because food is supposed to tell a story, and here the story has been lost in translation.
I think back to my years in Japan, where even the worst corner shop Chinese meal held dignity—a bowl of noodles that still carried its roots, fried rice with just enough balance to remind you of its origins. By comparison, even the best dishes here feel lifeless. Like polygons rendered without textures, or dialogue delivered without voice acting. All the pieces are present, but the humanity has been stripped away.
The staff are not the problem. The space is not the problem. The failure is in the food itself—the heart of the experience.
One star. Because cuisine should never feel like a simulation running on an outdated engine. And here, every bite was a reminder of how far this is from what it should be.
In my games, when you strip away the soul of a system, all you’re left with is mechanics. China King tastes like mechanics—functional, but devoid of life.

no pork in the fried rice
Who ever answers the phone is very rude , disrespectful and doesn’t take her time when taking orders. They made a mistake with our order, but refused to own up to it. Do not recommend this place. Go somewhere else.
I got an egg roll and pork fried rice. Food was good and the price was okay. Person at counter was pleasant.

My genral tso wasn’t good at all for two main reasons … the oil they use needs to be changed because the chicken taste like other dishes and the old oil tatse didn’t help either …. The flavor on the sauce was minimal to none, even though I didn’t have a lot of sauce to begin with.. ******
sidenote idk if they do this in all Chinese stores because I have never seen it except for this one but they had cooked chicken wings and eggs rolls sitting on the counter like if someone ordered chicken they would probably re fry them and serve which is horrible … they way they were hanging and how many of them were hanging up led me to this conclusion … china king do better!
Hard to understand, make mistakes, charge extra on credit card. Lately, started charging for hot oil. .... was a regular for over 5 years.... not anymore. And I felt like they don't care about any customer or customer service....
My favorite family
