What the heck did I get myself into. I googled cafes in this part of town because I was on a Sunday morning business trip. I pull up to the cafe with two entry doors which said members only……. Hesitant, I still proceeded to enter. Unsure of what I was going to encounter I felt like Liam Neesen in the movie Taken. It was a cafe filled with Eastern Europeans from middle age to elderly men mostly smoking cigars and cigarettes, mind you it’s 830am Sunday morning. I walked over to the cafe and asked for an espresso to go. Great coffee and great environment. This has to be the coolest cafe I have ever visited, I wish I got the gentleman’s name who pulled my shot he was really nice. Not sure if I was allowed to enter or not, hopefully I can come back and have a conversation along with another espresso.

This is the place if you must have a “real shot of Espresso”. It is not fancy, not a fu-fu Starbucks garbage. Just Real Espresso - no food - no syrup flavored coffee!

I didn't even get a coffee here because it smelled like smoke in there.... very strong smoke smell. I wanted to find a place where I can sit down and get work done while drinking a coffee but this is definitely not the place
This is a Cigar Cafe... meaning they Smoke Cigars in there .

Have visited the cafe on the 19th of August to buy some treats for take away. Have bought two packets of mantolato, traditional finger sweet. Have to admit that it was delicious. I regret I did not buy some other treats to try!! Mantolato has been very fresh and tasty. There is variety of many products. There is parking for one car in front of the cafe, at the main road of Apollonia. Staff has been very friendly. Good job Gerontolopoulos team!!!
These place is so good not only for breakfast with a nice open view also for take away. Sweet are super good and chocolate cake unbelievable!!! Don’t hessitate to pick up your pastry after getting of the bus in Appolonia.
We stayed upstairs in Hotel Anthousa so were tempted at every turn, Everything here is top class and is a great place to sit and enjoy the view.
When I first came to Sifnos, working on my book about the 'Cyclades', I regularly used to stay at the hotel 'Anthousa' above the 'Gerontopoulos Café', then my breakfast place. For my later visits to Sifnos I moved to a hotel by the Kamares beach. Back again to the 'Gerontopoulos', together with my wife, we sat on the covered terrace facing the road and the sea. There is also pleasant seating in a backyard. The café with its shop has entrances on two sides. Where we sat there were marble-topped tables and metal-chairs painted white. It also had benches and pillows in the colours blue and white. All in all a light, pleasant design. We ordered a cappuccino and a frappé, which were both of the best quality. I also asked for fried eggs with bacon, which took ages to come, so I had to go inside to inquire about it. When the dish finally arrived it had slices of probably Gouda cheese on top, which was not to my taste. The waiter, all in all the most unfriendly and least professional one we had encountered on this latest Sifnos-trip, forgot to bring salt and pepper, so I had to ask for it. The bill was half thrown at us without a word.
Great place for a cup of coffee.
