person was super nice when i ordered takeout and picked it up, dolsot bibimbap was delicious although there was virtually no meat and the egg was semi cooked (and i mean the egg white was still slimy...) the path you take to get into the restaurant was super creepy like i felt like i was gonna get murdered but whatever. probably won't come back but slay!
I used to like this place but the service is horrible. Wasn’t even greeted and never was checked on once. They just looked bored and didn’t do anything to service us except bring the food. All they did was bring food and sit there. The guy also had the audacity to stop me right at the door when I was about to step out and ask me for more on the tip. Who in the world does that? Yeah never coming back to this place, it felt so uncomfortable to eat here. The service is horrible.

I used to love going to this restaurant, but two days ago that changed. I decided to bring a friend with me because I wanted to show her how good the food was. However, it was more than disappointing. First, the staff was not nice and rather boring looking, doing thinks as they really didn’t wanted to be there. They did not bring the banchan/side dishes until we ordered and all of them were super cold. The worst part was when I ordered a bibimbap, one of my favorites, everything seems fine until I was about to take my first bite then I saw something in the rice, initially I thought it was a piece of hair, but when I look more closely, it was a COCKROACH. I very calmly called the waitress and show her what I found. She just took my plate and took it back to the kitchen. They didn’t even apologize, nobody came to us and said anything, so I decided that I was going to leave. Me and my friend stood up, the person in the front didn’t even acknowledge anything. He just wave me off like in a way for me to go away quickly and mumble “sorry sorry”… it was an awful experience and unfortunately, I don’t think I’m ever coming back.

the prices match the portions! could not finish a dish by myself. the location being on top of chinatown square is a bit uninviting. the upstairs where the restaurant is, is a nice space and theres plenty of seating upstairs.

I used to love this restaurant- I've been here over 15 times but today the service was awful!!! The service was so rude, they rushed us out. We were only there for 30 mins. I gave a 15% tip then the waiter had the audacity to ASK ME FOR A HIGHER TIP!!!! NEVER COMING BACK!!!!

Yummy!
Very long wait time
Food was great but the service and the attitude was terrible. I tipped the amount that was reasonable but they chased after me to tell me that it’s too low and asked me to change it with a damn tone.

Food was not that tasty. Had much better korean food outside.
Yes you’ll see the usually suspects: Galbi, bulgogi, bibim bap (order it in dolsot) but I go for the other comfort foods on the menu. Like gamjatang, bibim nyeong myun, bossam (the perfect keto meal), and for the adventurous, jok bal. Soon tofu is just perfect on a cold dreary winter day.
I usually judge a K-jawn by their kimchi, and Dae Bak def makes it in house, sometimes it’s fresh, other days it’s hella dank and extra ripe.
Other items that are quality are the mandu, get it steamed so you can respect the delicate wrapper-def made from scratch, store bought wrappers are thick and chewier. The kimchi pancake appetizer is another level; the ones I’ve order at Olney Korean restaurants are always made too think so that the middle stays soggy, with the outer edges over cooked, almost burned. Dae Bak’s is the perfect thickness that the whole thing is crispy ands the golden color is consistent throughout.
Go! Take your friends and impress them by ordering the list of items on my review.
