I’m a hard critic, but the food was fire, fish & chips killed it, wings fantastic, the slaw sandwich phenomenal, and the beer mind boggling. Great place way above average food and drinks. Service was good, fast, attentive.
I recommend going to this place,

I will be back with more people.

Cheers

⚠️ Beware of Bartender Adding Unauthorized Charges

I attended a paid meet-and-greet at this establishment last weekend. While there, I ordered a drink and a side of fries for $7 (plus tax).

The bartender who served me asked if I wanted to keep my tab open. I hesitated but said yes, even though I wasn’t planning on ordering more. I ended up leaving without closing my tab — my mistake — and called minutes later to close it over the phone.

When she found my tab, she asked if I’d like to leave a tip. I said no. That’s my right as a customer. I asked for my total, and she told me $7.56. When the transaction posted on Monday, I saw $9.56 — an unauthorized $2 charge.

This is theft. Whether it’s $2 or $200, the amount is irrelevant — it’s the principle. I worked in restaurants before, and I know tip culture inside and out. I also know that altering a guest’s bill without permission is a FIREABLE OFFENSE in any reputable establishment.

When I called back, a woman by the name of Ebony picked up the phone but had to give it to the manager. The so-called manager (“Manny” or “Kevin”, he stated his name was Manny before he told me he would have to call me back to look for the transaction before refunding me. When he called me back I asked if it was Manny and he said that it was “Kevin”. Making it seem as if there’s no “Manny” on the premises. As someone who is calling about theft from their bank account I am going to remember everyone’s name that gets on that line. So I’m not sure what all of that was about. So “Manny Kevin” refunded the $2 but showed zero genuine concern that one of his bartenders had taken money without permission. No apology. No “this is unacceptable.” Just a bare-minimum, procedural refund. If I were managing here, a real response would have looked like:
• Apologizing sincerely for the misconduct
• Assuring the guest the matter would be addressed internally
• Offering to comp the fries or extend a courtesy for the inconvenience

Instead, I was left feeling like this behavior is tolerated — maybe even common — here. And that’s exactly why some employees think they can get away with it… especially the white ones.

She didn’t just prove I was right not to tip her in the first place — she went ahead and proved she couldn’t be trusted with $2, let alone anyone’s card. And hey, if you’d like to donate $2 to struggling bartenders who can’t seem to survive without quietly taking it from customers, this is clearly the place to do it. i’m willing to put the biggest bet on the fact that if I were to visit this establishment again and take a picture of this thief’s face to put it on another review to show people what a struggling bartender looks like she’d still be there. Why? Because this kind of behavior is overlooked at this type of establishment especially if they’re her kind. i’m sure I’m not the first review commenting on discrimination from this place

If you value honesty, accountability, and basic respect for your money, think twice before opening a tab here — or handing over your card at all.

To the sandy blonde struggling bartender needing two dollars: I hope you’ve got on your prettiest face and smile for the photo. Because I bet you’re still working there 🙂

Mmmmm. Beer! Tried the Docktoberfest and one other amber beer (the name escapes me…)
The food came out quick and was really good. Best fries and boneless wings I have had in a while!

(Too hungry to take a “BEFORE” pic!)

I really enjoy this space! Lots of open seating for working remotely. The pizza is excellent, and everyone is friendly. It is a little pricey, but the vibes make it worth it. Coffee bar is just okay but I see it getting much better!

Dock Street South has it all: great food, beer, cocktails, great service, and an inclusive environment. Perfect space for a group or a private event. Neighborhood gem!

DSB is a great expression of all things Philly. Authentic, not pretentious, serious about its food and drink, but not fru fru. Come here to be real, be passionate about your food and drink. The food is gastronomy based, meaning, it's everything you recognize, but with an added flair of culinary inventiveness, and that's appreciated. Its also very, very good. The beers are fresh, delicious, whimsical and above all flavorful. The space, at Washington Av, is industrial minimalism, but comfortable enough to spaz out and enjoy a cocktail, a meal, or the company you might be keeping. Riding solo? Pull up to the bar, people from all walks of life are here, sharing in the experience of gathering together, celebrating or lamenting life, your mood is where the conversation takes you. Dock Street has a nice neighborhood feel, yet everyone is welcome. No one yelled Norm, but you'd be sure to hear a Go Birds, if you hang around long enough. DSB feels like the city, expressing itself via good food and great beer. Yup, it's a thing, a good thing.

I saw this on a T-shirt in an episode of it’s always Sunny in Philadelphia and I had to give it five stars.

My husband and I booked our pre-wedding event here, and it was amazing! The space is beautiful— lots of natural lighting, plenty of seating, and a pool table. I really appreciated how easy the event coordinator Renata made it for us to book the space so last minute and how flexible she was. The food and drinks were amazing, and everything flowed so naturally. Lots of veggie options too. Everyone was really kind and professional.

I came in last night and it was like walking into a Daycare. There were kids everywhere, and so many screaming and running around and banging blocks and things on the table. I was trying to go to the bathroom and almost tripped over an unsupervised child. It seems like this has just become an upscale Chuckie Cheese that parents treat as an unofficial babysitter so they can get drunk. The food is so good, and I love the vibes, but this is the second Friday in a month I’ve come in and had this experience. I hope the owners figure something out because there is a difference between being “kid-friendly” and just unbearable. I guess it’s my mistake for thinking a literal bar would be a place to relax without kids. 🙄

This is a super special place. The staff are the friendliest you'll find around and the food is just flat out spectacular. You'll note in the photos that it's not possible to get a picture of an entire Flammenkuche pizza because it's so good nobody will wait until the pic is taken. The line dancing twice a month on Tuesdays is terrific and lively, and the instructors and DJ are too notch. Kudos to one of the best places we've ever visited.

Went for the first time for “survivor night” on Wednesday, which was so fun! The drinks were great and they have such a cute space. There is a pool table, darts, plenty of board games, and 2 separate large rooms with tables for eating/drinking. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back to try some food, the pizza looks incredible!

The ambiance was good, nice venue. The pizza was salty, the fries were burnt and the wings were not cooked all the way through. Not likely to go back for food but the draft beer was good.
