Great spot!! Full of history…cheap still and old school
Great old school dive with cheap drinks (compared to the rest of the hood) Good vibes.
Welcoming neighborhood spot. I wandered in on a Thursday afternoon. Friendly entertaining bartender. Heard the family ownership has been there since the 60s. I believe it. It looks like not much has changed since then. Refreshing.

El Bar is a humble, no-frills dive bar with a perfect ambiance and cheap drinks. It is a popular neighborhood spot known for its friendly and entertaining bartender, as well as its family ownership that has been there since the 60s. The bar looks like not much has changed since then, giving it a refreshing, nostalgic feel. It’s a great place for late-night gatherings, with a pool table in the center of the main room that encourages conversation and socializing. Outside, sofas arranged in a circle make it easy to talk to others, creating a welcoming environment. The PBRs are tall and affordable, making it accessible to everyone. The bar is also a good spot for late-night eaters, with Glizzy's available regularly. While it is your average dive bar, it seems to have improved recently with better drink choices and a more organized business. However, it offers limited food options, which is a common feature in Philly’s top dive bars. The bar sometimes hosts karaoke nights, and there is a nice back area to escape to if needed. Be cautious of your surroundings, as there have been reports of pickpocketing.
