Best Mexican food in Philly. Probably first Mexican food I’ve had in the NE that tastes comparable to delicious West Coast options. Well worth supporting this business!

I'm a native Texan and I am in HEAVEN. I just moved in down the street and this place is AMAZING. El Caracol serves up authentic dishes that are incredible and oh man I'm gonna eat so much. My husband ordered the camerones a la diabla (deviled shrimp) and they are gloriously garlicy. Add the orange sauce for extra spicy. I ordered the burrito mojado (wet burrito) with carnitas (it's the most delicious braised pork) and I could not stop eating it. The green salsa on the burrito is the perfect medium spicy. I cannot say enough good things. I am so thankful El Caracol is near me. It's small but this place is a must try. If you don't like it we can't be friends.

Chinatown was packed so we wandered here. I got the Al Pastor burrito and Pescatarian friend got some fish tacos. Burrito was small but very delicious. Cute small spot. Fun decor and quiet random restaurant on the side. I haven't had good experiences with Mexican food in Philly so far but this place has great prices and I would definitely come back again!

Don't let the size of the place fool you. This is real, amazing Mexican Food as it should be.

The food at El Caracol is fantastic. It has that great little family owned vibe. The prices are extremely fair and the portions are plentiful. The birria is among the best I've ever had for significantly cheaper than all of those other gimmicky places. They really take care of you here.Vegetarian options: Almost everything can be made vegetarian within reason. They are very accommodating.

I've been to so many of the Mexican restaurants in Philadelphia and none have even come close to the flavor of the food at el Caracol!!! It has a very homey feel to it and the service was incredibly fast. I will be making myself a regular here. Highly recommend the wet burrito and the tostadas.

There’s not much more that I can say other than this is one of Philly’s best Mexican restaurants. Period. The service is great and the food is outstanding (the tacos, esp. the birria, are tdf). Feels like you’re dining at a relative’s cozy home…if a hug were a flavor, then this food is it . 20/10 would recommend.
