I’ve been here twice and I can say the food is certainly authentic. We are enjoying some of the best Latin American cuisines at “El Guayas” restaurant. It’s always been a toss up between Ecuador and Peru for the best South American food for me and I’m happy I found this place. A lot of the food requires a very lengthy preparation and I’m honestly too lazy for it. El Guayas has not taken any short cuts with the authentic recipes.

The food was alright, nothing too amazing, as someone native to the area where this food is typical from. The chicken drumstick in my stew came with the bone harshly broken up; the waitress refused to change it. The churrasco asado was ok, but overcooked. Overall way too expensive for what you are getting.
A main issue was that, as evidenced by the pictures of the menu and the receipt, I was charged $4 for each Ecuadorian soda, while the menu had a price of $2/$2.5. This is ridiculous and the main reason for my 1 star review. If they had communicated correctly the price of the drinks from the start, I would not have purchased 3 sodas. The server refused to honor the prices written in the menu after my pushback. In fact she had the gall to say that she didn't charge us for the tap water I requested.
They also have an automatic 15% service charge, but still ask for tip on top of that. In my opinion this is also a scummy practice.

We wanted to try this food because we are planning a trip to Ecuador. Have to say, WOW. What a find! Everything from the food, the service and the atmosphere was fabulous. We are for sure going back when we come back from Ecuador, but we are hoping to make it again before we leave. Diana and Gina made us feel very comfortable and were very attentive. Hope they’re still there when we go back again.

This place used to be good but now they're giving you less food and charge you more money. We ordered 2 seco de chivo and they gave us a portion of one, maybe a couple more pieces and thats it! Charged us for 2. Another time we ordered 6 caldo de salchicha but they gave us the soups in 4 containers. We asked where are the other 2 soup. They said to add more water to the other 4 soup containers to make 6! What the heck!

Churrasco is 9.5 out of 10. Very good quality, smoky deep grill flavor and very tasty. Add the green sauce and chunky picante. You will not be disappointed. Always clean and good staff .

Authentic Ecuadorian food reminded me of the summer I spent in Ecuador. Ordered the salchipapas, I didn't like the salad it came with but everything else was great. Took a bolón home as well and it was good too very filling.

Totally disappointed, the roast beef had a gas smell, the broth had no flavor and was more foamy, it was obviously overheated, the food was very bad, I don't recommend this place at all, it was terrible in its entirety.
