The Mahi Tacos (broiled) were kind of tasteless this time. I would order something else next time. The guacamole and chips were good.
Great food as always. Have been going for decades. Ravmyr is our kind of waiter. Very bubbly. Everyone in the place is friendly. I think it's funny that OpenTable calls the loudest level of noise “energetic.” I would call it deafening and hard to talk to my tablemates. But, that's only when you're stuck near a table of 6 or more. We love El Rey
Two couples - first time here. Plentiful and yummy food - we got guac and ceviche for apps, and all got different versions of tacos. All fresh and generous. Also thought price point was quite good. We had drinks - the usual Margaritas and a glass of wine. Margaritas a little overpriced for the size but tasty. Service very attentive and spot on for how busy it was. Our only issue was the noise level was very high - two noisy tables next to us, and really no availability of what I would call “quieter” table on a (granted a busy) Friday. We managed obviously but I would recommend going earlier if you don't like noise. We went at 7:30 on a Friday night. Would love to go back on a Wednesday! Thanks.
The margaritas were good, the enchiladas were tasty and the churros were delicious. Nice dining experience for some authentic Mexican in Philadelphia.
Everything was outstanding! Flavors were fresh and tasty - we tried a little of everything; I highly recommend the Campechana Ceviche and both tacos we had knocked it out of the park (Carnitas and Mahi Mahi). Service was friendly and attentive which is always a win as well.
Very good food. Loved my tuna ceviche. Guac was very good but didn't wow me. Waiter was very good! Comfortable booth and fun atmosphere.
Rav was an amazing attentive server! The whole team was responsive and gracious. Music was too loud given how loud it already was in a packed restaurant. We will go back!
This was my second visit to El Rey and the food was fantastic. Everything we ordered was delicious and came out fast. The service was very professional and courteous. I'll definitely be coming back
Not a great experience. Also they charged $20 for the guacamole special. I should have asked the price beforehand but that's ridiculous.
Wonderful service all around! Staff were very attentive, had great recommendations, and super fast service!

Not our first time at El Rey and it won't be our last either. They make one of the best vegetable burritos I've ever had. And my husband ordered paella with shrimp, chicken and squid and he said it was amazing. Great cocktails, fantastic service and await staff. That's super friendly.
A fun place for dinner! The ceviche was delicious and everyone in our group loved the entrees. We also had someone with celiac disease in our group and they were great about letting us know which food was gluten free and also saying it when they delivered the food to our table. Overall a great experience!
Great food. Such good flavor. Alexis was amazing. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Went for brunch and will be back.
Quiet table great way to start a date small plates decent drinks, however the Rainstead Room behind it more than made up for the inequities of El Rey
This restaurant doesn't look like much on the outside, but inside it is so cute and festive! Compared to many Mexican restaurants, their menu offerings are limited. I had the chicken enchiladas and they were great. My husband had the chicken quesadilla and it was dry and needed something. My margarita was delicious, but really small, served in a small high-ball glass instead of a larger margarita glass. My husband had churros for dessert and he enjoyed them. Overall, we enjoyed El Rey and would go back!
