My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner. Excellent music playing, including Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, and Townes van Zandt and beautiful, cozy atmosphere. Began with the venison scrapple (to die for), then to the cheese board (delicious goat cheese), pierogies (incredibly delicate). Then to the venison which was cooked to perfection along with the various sides. Dessert was a cheesecake tart and Elwood tea, very tasty and rich cheesecake. The 2 cookies at the 2nd were also delicious. I don't know if I ever had a better time at a restaurant, but this is easily top 5 meals I've had in years.

We had an incredible time. The venison was cooked to perfection and the pickle vegetables served on the side were a very nice touch.

This is the second year in a row that my DAR group held our Women's History themed tea at Elwood. Stellar service, I tried things I never normally would like the scrapple (not a fan of it generally), it was a little piece of heaven! All the food is small bites for tea service. The chicken salad on a mini croissant ?. The biscuits, clotted cream, strawberry jam made by the owner's mother! Absolutely scrumptious!!!

Elwood is a delicious restaurant and a wonderful dining experience. I went there in 2022 to celebrate with my fiance when we first got engaged. It’s intimate and unpretentious and clearly a lot of thought and care has gone into the menu and the recipes and the experience. My family is from Pennsylvania Dutch country and I was so excited to discover Elwood. However, here’s why I’m giving it 3 stars. I was looking for a last minute reservation for 5 people for my birthday. My mom is pescatarian and cannot eat meat. On their FAQs it says that most of the food is cooked with animal fat instead of oil. I was excited at the idea of taking my mom to a restaurant that has so much of the food she grew up eating. So I called to ask if all of the food had animal fat in it or if there was anything a vegetarian could eat at all. The person who answered the phone was so mean. They kept saying they didn’t understand what I was asking and asked if I thought mashed potatoes and salad had animal fat in it. The websites says “We do our best to use the entirety of the animal and animal fats are used in most dishes in lieu of oil.”It’s hard to convey how bizarre and belittling the person was being. By the end of the call I was in tears. In conclusion, do go to Elwood. It’s a great restaurant and a great experience. Just don’t call them on the phone, especially it seems when whoever it is that answers is having a bad day.

We had the best valentines dinner! The restaurant is cozy and intimate with amazing service; it was also awesome that we could BYOB! After some fluffy potato rolls, we split the buttery striped bass. The family style meal (complete with sides!) tasted like the perfect, elevated meal featuring humble PA ingredients. LOVED trying all the different pickles!! Thank you for a very special meal! We will be back for tea service :)

I had the pleasure of trying this place over the weekend. Amazing experience. The owner treated us like old friends. We split the rabbit and everything was perfect! Will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu!

Very pretty small space, comfortable and special without feeling overly pretentious. The owner/chef served us and it was a very pleasant experience. Plenty of food and more affordable than expected.

Fantastic all-around. My husband and I made a reservation for dinner on a Thursday evening in December. We had the entire place to ourselves for half of the dinner, which was shocking because the food was delicious and the service was impeccable. The restaurant has an intimate, upscale but cozy atmosphere. You can tell that the owner takes pride in his dishes and care in selecting quality, local ingredients. We ordered the crab soup, cheese board, the whole rabbit, and the cheesecake tart with coffee; everything was flavorful and made for the perfect, comforting winter meal. The rabbit came with mashed potatoes and root vegetables that were seasoned and cooked sooo well. The restaurant is byob so we were able to have a nice bottle of wine with dinner without spending a fortune. I highly recommend this hidden gem!

It’s always tough to decide where to get your elevated Amish food, and Elwood knows you have options. That’s why they serve their food on the most elegant china, in the coziest atmosphere, with an authentic Dutch flavor profile.
