The dinner was over the top. Scallion pancake and wantons in chili oil were outstanding as appetizers. The whole sea bass and beef with scallions were excellent main courses.

Long time Philly area residents back in town after relocating to the southwest. Really missed Chinatown and the great restaurants we grew up with. EMei hit all the right notes with both the typical Cantonese fare and a few more unusual items. Food came out quickly and was absolutely delicious! Service was so lovely and welcoming. Looking forward to our next visit!!

Great place for sichuan cuisine. Food was excellent, service was excellent, ambiance was a little loud. But that wouldn't dissuade me from returning and enjoying more of the menu.

Overall we enjoyed the experience at EMei. The food was not as flavorful as it was on a past visit. Our house special fried rice was not really fried but cold and flavorless. The star of the meal was this Crispy Sweet & Sour Sea Bass with Pine Nuts. It was phenomenal! However the salt & pepper jumbo fried shrimp were still waiting to be salt & peppered. Overall EMei is a very welcoming, family friendly, date friendly, safe space for everyone. We'll be back again soon so all is not lost.

Food good but not great. Better than most Chinese restaurants.Chow fun was cold but other dishes were piping hot. Restaurant was too noisy - couldn't talk easily. We will try again on a less busy night

We came here mostly for FG dishes, most of the food here was cooked super spicy, you need to have rice to go with it I didn’t feel too good after the meal , so if you could not handle the 麻辣 Make sure to ask for milder ingredients

We have gotten takeout from here several times and it was so great to eat in. I love their gluten free options!

Good service, flavorful food, and a good value. The restaurant is nicely lit, simple decor, and pretty.

Great food and portions for an economical price! My friend and I had no Thanksgiving plans and she wanted asian so we googled places in Chinatown Philadelphia and this establishment had an expansive menu and good reviews! sorry i did not know about this restaurant sooner :) great cocktails too!

Excellent Szechuan take out Go for: Dan Dan Noodles Pickled Wood Ear Mushrooms (great!) White Fish with Green Peppercorn Stir-Fried Snow Pea Leaves with Garlic Avoid: Kung Pao Chicken (well cooked, but the sweetest version of this dish I've had anywhere.) Chongqing Spicy Chicken (NOT very spicy, and as their menu correctly points out- not really a viable take-out dish. Really fine kitchen. Bravo! I've ordered three times now and will continue to explore.

Terrible noodles in cold sesame - all I could taste was chili oil. Food all came out at once and was thrown at us. Server forgot to put in one dish - came quickly once we asked for it. They kept trying to clear the plates before we were done and then when we finished and were waiting for our friend in the bathroom, the manager told us there are too many people waiting and we need to go - could she start cleaning and setting up the table while we sat there. Then I got a vicious stomach ache 20 minutes after we left. Probably from having to eat so fast and not letting my food settle. Would never go back there. Don't understand what the hype is about. They must have a great publicist.

Went for a last minute dinner. They have a very large variety of things on the menu. We took our own wine and corkage fee was 20 dollars. Beef was perfectly cooked. Would go back.

We had a very nice evening & dinner at EMei Our waiter was fabulous, as our service wasn't rushed & everything was served hot & in a timely manner. My husband and I each had a very delicious, well made cocktail. We had hot oil wontons which were very delicate and not that spicy hot by my request. The sweet & sour sea bass was delicious, as well as the sautéed pea pods with garlic. My husband loves scrambled eggs & they had them prepared with tomatoes. Crazy thing to order, but they were some of the best scrambled eggs we ever had! Definitely recommend as a dining destination in Chinatown, close to the Convention Center where we had attended an event. Do make a reservation.

Excellently prepared food. Large menu with some atypical choices. Loved the dry wok option. Attentive wait staff.
