We went there on Saturday, me and hubs, and had a very nice lunch. He ordered the cheese grits with fried whiting and I had the breakfast platter with potatoes, eggs and sausages. All of the food was delicious and we will be going back again soon; we even ordered two fish sandwiches to go! The service was very good and we were informed of what they were out of as well as what the specials were. The dining area is very small, yet it has a warmth to it. I understand the place used to be a take out restaurant because of the limited space. All in all an enjoyable Saturday.

A friend & I went there Saturday 12/09 for dinner. The food was an insult to my taste buds. The chicken wings were just OK they were jumbo size which means they were tough to break apart & no seasonings, the greens were canned Glory greens & the yams were also canned Glory yams,they were doctored up with additional sugar &spices. I'd ordered a bottle of soda & it was expired. Had to use the restroom & to get to the restroom it was like walking through their living room. Based on the ambiance they were probably living in the restaurant & we were the only business they had that day.

I order a fish plater with fries and yams, also a chicken platter with greens and yams. The fish was very good, 2 big filets seasoned and cooked right, yams are good, the fries are okay just dont like the seasoning they used. It had oregano in the seasoning which made the fries more like home fries, just not my preference. The wings were fried good but lacked seasoning and they are too big for my liking. The greens were good just a little a salty. Overall this place is legit, first soulfood place I've liked.

Ok I usually don't leave full story reviews but since this is the first review for this restaurant I want them to have all the tools they need to continue to be In This community !!! If you know it's barely soul food let alone good soul food in uptown/ Germantown area ! So I'm always trying out something new ! Which brought me here and I ordered 2 fried fish platter with yams and macaroni and a side of collard greens. Called into order at 5:40 on Saturday was on hold for about 10 mins and was disconnected so I had to call back! finally placing my order at I believe 6:00 pm being told it would be a 25 min wait! They have the fish they are just behind on orders with chicken witch is understandable. I arrived 35-40 mins after placing the order and when I got to the counter top it was not ready ! Now this is where they get they points from for me the customer service was A1 they was communicating with me about the long wait checked on me constantly and even gave a discount when I went to pay and a soda on them with smiles on they face ! Now where they lost me the wait was more than 45mins after I already gave the grace time to get the food down and then when I I got home the yams were horrible!!!!!!! The worse yams I've had in the city they had no sauce no butter nothing at all they were dry and cinnamon tossed on them horrible just horrible! The mac and cheese saved them some points with the nice burned edges and the freshness of it but needed to season the noodles I can tell it had seasoning but seasoning you're noodles before the cheese is a must ! And the winner of the whole platter was the fish I would come back just for a fish sandwich and to try the jerk cheesesteak I've been hearing about but the sides need work and also the Mac is just my opinion my family loved the Mac and the fish ! As for the greens they tasted like frozen kale greens not collard! To reiterate they had amazing customer service and amazing ambiance it definitely looks like a great vibe to bring you're own bottle to and it has a backyard I unfortunately didn't see but heard many great thing about ! I encourage you guys to go and develop you're own opinion they are black owned and a great addition to the neighborhood these are just my thoughts on what would make them better to me ! And last longer

Outstanding and plentiful fried chicken and 2 sides. Each entree came with delicious corn bread. We tried the collard greens, creamed spinach, Mac and cheese, candied yams, and seasoned rice. All delicious.The place is small (3/4 tables) with white linens and clean.The service was simply outstanding.we felt welcomed and everything was delivered hot.We will be back.Vegetarian options: Vegetarians can order ala carte platters. The collards are made without meat, the creamed spinach, mac and cheese, candied yams, and seasoned rice would each add to a vegetarian meal.
The spicy chicken brioche sandwich was absolutely perfect comfort food, and the service was like dining with family!!

The food wasn't that great my friend had the fish with mac and cheese, the mac and cheese was very dry, and the fish wasnt that flavorful. I had the salmon sandwich and while the salmon was seasoned the whole sandwich together was very bland, and so were the fries, but they give you good portions of everything that's why I'm giving two stars.
