Half the price of a gelati at Rita’s and just as good. The ice cream is hand scooped rather than soft serve, but it tastes great all the same. Love the cheese pretzel, too. Can’t beat the low prices.
I grew up on Italian ices (or water ice, as they say in Philly) and I have to say that these are excellent. But it’s more than that, the people who work here are great and seem to be true members of the local community. We could use more places like this and people like them. Oh, and the prices are unreal - $2 gets you a very generous sized ice.
So haven’t been to this water ice stand since I been a kid but been patronizing Rita’s but babyyy I must say famous Italian is the place to get an amazing water ice. Super delicious and super soft. I came on July 4th. But before I came I called to see if they were open and they missed my call and called me back and that step one of them having great customer service.
