Federal Donuts & Chicken South Street

I stopped by for a cup of coffee, unsure if they had any vegan options available. To my delight, their coffee was exceptional. I've heard that it's Rival Brothers coffee, although I'm not a regular coffee drinker and when I do indulge, it's always decaf. Despite my usual avoidance of caffeine, I've recently found myself enjoying Americano - a simple blend of espresso and hot water. I always opt for oat milk and sometimes I'll add honey. So, while I consider myself 99% vegan, I do make exceptions for honey, even though it's not typically part of a vegan diet. It had been quite some time since my last visit to Federal Donuts, typically a monthly occurrence for me. Their donuts are truly outstanding, some of the best I've ever had. They offer an array of unique flavors and combinations that are hard to find elsewhere. One of my old favorites was the blueberry cream cheese donut - an absolute treat. I also loved their strawberry lavender and cookies and cream flavors. Every donut I've tried from them has been exceptional. Currently, they have some holiday specials, like the pumpkin old-fashioned, although unfortunately they don't offer any vegan options at the moment. Hopefully, that will change in the future. I also must mention that their chicken is quite delicious. While I haven't had it recently, it used to be a staple for me during previous visits. Federal Donuts has a great atmosphere, with good music, friendly people, and an overall inviting vibe.

100% recommend if you want a delicious, light cake donut. The staff was super friendly and we even had food from outside that we had gotten from a cheesesteak restaurant and they were ok with us eating that there. Glad we stumbled upon this gem in Philly

I was wating earlier this snowy sunday at south st location. I had an unfortunate moment of having a mild siezure (wich i am prone to having pretty often) the lady on shift that afternoon picked me up cus i had fallen. Gave a complimentary donut and juice! I cant say how much that means to me and made sure my ride picked me up safely. Give that person a raise! Great service. Thanks again.

IMy first visit was not too good because they got my order wrong but quickly made up for it by replacing them and adding an extra donut. I’ve tried three flavors but the lemon ricotta is my best. I could eat those donuts everyday. What a delicious way to start the new year.

The food was fantastic. It was hot. It was fresh. That’s not why I’m writing this review. The staff was unbelievably awesome. Helpful friendly knowledgeable but most of all sweet and kind. I hope federal donuts is taken care of these people because they are definitely taking care of us.!

Everything is great, BUT..IT'S SO COLD THAT even the employees are wearing scarves and hats in the store. Thus, making it an UNCOMFORTABLE ENVIRONMENT to eat in, as I cannot even take my jacket off.

This goes across all federal donuts in my experience.

$3 for a donut. That tastes like grease. Total disgusting. I will never purchase anything from them again.

If your in the mood for a coffee and a donut this is the place to go. Everyone that works there is amazingly kind and professional. It has a very relaxing atmosphere, and they play a lot of modern trendy music they usually don't play other places. Their coffee is very good, Lots of people love their donuts, but I'm not the biggest fan. If you like your donuts to be more cake like than donut then they are right up your alley. I highly recommend them though especially if you just want a place to take a break or just chill on your phone or laptop for a couple hours. Just make sure you support them and don't just go in and sit forever without buying anything and then get mad when they ask you to buy something. They are an establishment not a community center.
