I went to this location at 4:15 on Saturday 7/26 and an employee turned me away, saying they were closing up 45 MINUTES EARLY. Very disappointing, especially as someone who only makes it into Philly a few times a year.

I visited Federal Donuts about a week ago and overheard something that completely turned me off from ever coming back. One of the employees — who has previously told me she’s the assistant manager when I needed help with a previous order — was loudly telling her coworkers about how The Franklin Institute formally accused her of dropping a donut on the floor and serving it to them. She was speaking openly and loudly enough that multiple customers, including myself, clearly heard her — and she didn’t seem to care at all.

If you were falsely accused of something that serious, would you really be casually talking about it in front of customers? It honestly made me question the standards of this location. If this is the type of person Federal Donuts trusts in a leadership role, they won’t be getting my business again and you should reconsider giving them your business as well.

Nice place to find a cortado in Philadelphia. The best donuts anywhere, unmatched.

Best seventy six dollars I’ve ever spent on donuts, I’ll tell you that. Nothing like them on this planet and they got killed in minutes. Gonna be a monthly treat for my hard working team. Thank you!

I always have the best experiences at Federal Donuts. Today I had the chicken bacon ranch sandwich which was so good I forgot to take a photo. I also had a classic vanilla sprinkle donut that was absolutely perfect.

During Phish’s Baker’s Dozen run at Madison Square Garden in 2017, the band played 13 shows with no repeated songs, and each night had a unique donut theme like coconut, powdered, or red velvet. As fans arrived, Federal Donuts gave out special donuts that matched the theme of the night, which often inspired fun setlist choices or song references. It became a beloved part of the experience and a sweet connection between Phish, their fans, and donuts.

Good news is same price cash or credit. Food is decent. Fried chicken sandwich was good. Service is meh. Unwelcoming. Store was empty which probably reflects mediocre service.

This place is a total gem. The cashiers could work on their costumer service a bit more but the cookies did great!

I ordered the $7.00 breakfast sandwich. It was adequate, but the bun didn’t suit a breakfast sandwich—it seemed like it came straight from a discount bread store and lacked any real character. The pepper relish spread, however, was a nice touch and added some flavor. The staff were friendly and service was prompt. The store was adequately clean, though the selection was limited. One disappointing detail: the top of my canned drink had grime inside the rim, which was off-putting.

I am usually a big fan of this place but I just paid $17 for three overcooked chicken tenders and a half a bag of extremely salty fries that took 20min to receive. One staff member was at the front counter with a scowl on their face counting money very slowly and ignoring everybody while their kitchen staff was overwhelmed and in the weeds. If you’re going to serve $13 chicken tenders, they better be perfect and it’s not hard to mess up fries. Will skip this location because every other location manages to be a joyous and overall delightful experience.

Ah, Federal Donuts - one of my favorite Philadelphia institutions! The donuts are so tasty yet so unique. We arrived later in the morning but I was pleasantly surprised by the selection that was still left.

PRO TIP: Do not skip the “Hot & Fresh” selection. They don’t appear in the bakery case!

I was disappointed by the atmosphere in this location. It feels very food court. A lot of the furniture was piled up on the side of the restaurant. It was a rainy weekend day, which might have explained this though.

Wife got a half dozen from this location today. Every doughnut in our box tastes like fried chicken.
Unmistakable and gross. You can smell the oil when you open the box.
Haven't had federal doughnuts in a few years and was excited. Things have fallen off.
