They didn’t have whipped cream which surprised me for a coffee shop; they also don’t serve their cinnamon buns warm, though it was still pretty good at room temp. They seem homemade and were soft and chewy. I liked that they did latte art on my hot chocolate 😃 never seen that before for a non coffee drink

Stopped by for a quick treat. My husband and I both ordered hot chocolate with whole milk. Not sure what they used but I doubt it was whole milk. Not at all creamy and the chocolate flavor was weak. We also got a bronut and sourdough cinnamon bun. Those were good.

My go-to place for coffee in Philly! The baristas know their products, and both their espresso and pour overs are amazing! The shop is a bit small but it provides a decent atmosphere to work.

They serve/sell Vibrant coffee beans (an excellent 3rd wave coffee roaster). They have an extensive pour over menu, but the drip is usually good by itself. Food is pretty good, I had a breakfast sandwich the other day with some kind of honey mustard spread. It was good, but the highlight for me is definitely the drip coffee. If you like coffee/espresso made with light roasts, put it in your list. Limited seating, but it’s never totally slammed and most people take their coffee to go.

This is my new regular coffee shop. I love the coffee and the people that work here- really feels like a part of the neighborhood.

Very good oat cappuccino (my test for a good cafe) small and limited seating but good vibes - across from a park too if you can't find a spot to sit.

A top notch small boutique style bagel. Sourdough, so it’s not quite the same flavor as a NYC style. The size is perfect to have 2 different flavors, and the cream cheese provided is solid and plentiful enough to slather on both sides effectively.

Chai is watery and a bit bland. The butternut squash latte I used to love is now hardly spiced nor texturally distinctive as compared with a plain old latte. I actually wonder if I was simply given a latte. Bummer - I guess Starbucks is the only squash latte I’m having this season. Function is a great go-to but I do wish they had a high quality frappuccino style drink like that fabulous coffee connoisseur in nyc I can’t recall the name of rn. $17 for 2 drinks and a bagel.

Had a hand-pour coffee. They serve it in a beaker set. The coffee was excellent. Cool presentation, good coffee. I was satisfied. The staff was pleasant. I really have reasonable expectations, and they met them; that's all that I ask, but if you dig into the other reviews here, you'll see some people who are easily offended.

I don't eat pastries, and it's ridiculous that people come here to ding a coffee shop with negative reviews over baked goods and pastries. Also, get over the prices. They are what they are. If you want cheap coffee, leave the city and go to a suburban Wawa or McDonalds. The vibe and neighborhood will be different, but you'll have your cheap coffee.

I am kind of loath to leave a bad review of Function. For a long time it was a top tier cafe. Prior to last year, every time I went to Function the coffee & the pastries were absolutely worth the cost.

Unfortunately, the last three times I've gone here the pastries were over cooked, under cooked, or missing.

This had been a place where I go for a special treat, so I am not a regular. Perhaps, three times, I have caught them on an off day, but for the price it does seem like the quality should be more consistent.
