I lived on this campus for 4 years and it was only after I graduated that I paid this place a visit and I can't believe I hadn't dropped by sooner! ... I mean I used to live in the building on top of it! Anyway I came here to catch up with a friend on her recommendation that not many undergrads frequent the place which was a plus for us haha. While I only got a coffee, I can imagine myself going here for more coffee chats and a quick snack or even if I need to sit down and use my laptop for a little bit. Kitchen Gia has similar vibes to Hub Bub (may she rest in peace) without all of that clutter and stress. Give Kitchen Gia a look! You might like what you see : )

Don't go if you're in a hurry. They are so unorganized. It's not clear where you order or where you pay. I stood in line to pay and when it was my turn, she said I had to wait. She took the next persons money and then walked away - wow!!! I left and will not return!!

Best salads ever

The food wasn't fresh and the staff was very rude.

A third world market or stock market futures trading floor is more organized and easy to navigate. No directions no information, no idea where to line up... total chaos for halfway decent food.

Quick lunch place on Penn's campus, with Paninis, Salads, and various other 'healthy' foods, at a reasonable price, with generally low attendance.

I don't know how this place doesn't have five stars. I've been coming here about two to three times a week for the past 4 years. One of my favorite spots for a sandwich. The staff is always friendly to me, and the sandwiches are delicious. It's also one of the only places that has fresh squeezed juices that are also delicious and refreshing. I always get the Chicken Curry Salad Sandwich. It rocks. I never really get the salads but my friends love it. It's sometimes a little packed at lunch time and I suppose a little over priced, but I think it's worth it for a good sandwich and juice on a campus that doesn't have that kind of option.

Gia Pronto is essentially two restaurants in one: paninis and salads. Closest to the entrance is a panini counter where you can get a variety of premade sandwiches that are reheated on a press. Further back on the right hand side is a choose your own salad adventure.

I was disappointed with my salad yesterday. Whoever made it, barely put any ingredients in it. I'm pretty sure he put 2 tomatoes, a piece of feta, a splash of shredded carrots, 1 piece of hearts of palm, a few black beans and a few croutons. Pretty pathetic to how I used to get them! and they downsized the container with lettuce. For the price, it's not worth it. I hardly ever write reviews but after what I got yesterday for the price I paid, I wasn't pleased. I used to get these salads every single day when I worked down in the city and they always loaded them up. :/

I was recently given 2 gift certificates for Kitchen Gia totalling $15.00. I got a salad and a drink totalling approximately $13.50. I handed the gift certificates to the person at the register and asked if I would get a certificate for the difference that I could use at a later date. The person at the register told me the certificates were only good for a one time use. This made no sense to me. I said that I might as well get something for the difference...bagel or muffin, etc. I was told that there was nothing that could be covered for the amount I should have as credit and I should just take a second roll. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Decor is good, food not so much

Kitchen GIA is overpriced but only things that was decent was the latte and some not all employee attitudes. The black female looks miserable and after looking at their salad offerings, with no greeting and no facial contact said curtly, "You can just leave it here" I'm referring to my partially filled order slip. I decided against the salad due to her behavior and how everything is ala carte. For examples, shredded pecorino cheese is a "gourmet" item and cost $1.50 (in addition to the $4.50 base charge for lettuce, kale blend, arugula, or spring mix). Basic items such as corn, carrots, celery, onions, cucumbers etc are $0.50 EACH! Traditional items such as pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, broccoli, cranberry, etc are $1 EACH. Insane to charge $1 for seeds, $0.50 for such items such as corn or shredded carrots, $1.50 for shredded cheese, and of course protein like chicken, fish, tuna, and tofu is $2 each. Easily most salads would cost at least $10. Thank GOD dressings are FREE but I'm sure they will change that too! The soups I sampled were decent and should have ordered but the white pizza wasn't hot (like I requested), and mostly just dough. The mushroom pizza was ok at beast and lukewarm. Both were most likely sitting there since 10 am or so. I don't recommend unless you try the latte and soup. Your better off going outside and ordering off a food truck!
