My husband brought me a platter today that was awful, we have been patronizing this establishment for quite a while, first of all everything on the menu that I wanted they didn't have, so I ended up settling for the chicken that had absolutely no taste and was fried so hard it chipped my tooth, the garlic butter rice was very dry and didn't have much taste, I don't know if I will be returning, first of all it's Sunday and you know most places get a big church crowd and they only had one waitress unbelievably, the prices are extremely high, you need to get it together people!!

This place use to be my favorite place to go. I don’t know who made the po boys today but they aren’t doing it like they used to. They use to use a cheese sauce, today they used American cheese and it just overpowered the sandwich with salt. The sauce was also over-salted. No more po boys for me.

This is my go to spot every time I go to Philly. The po boy sub on garlic bread is amazing. They have chicken, fish and shrimp po boys. Also have a plethora of soul food ranging from turkey wings to cabbage and Mac n cheese. A must eat place

If you’re a Philadelphian native, then you know good soul food , And Gilben’s is the spot , not greasey food ,very fresh , not over salted that leave you with a headache after consumption of eating . LARGE PORTION SERVED to have left overs for the next day .

The Stuffed Salmon is something else, my favorite . As a seafood lover its a joy to eat, the portions are great. It can last you two days as a lunch and dinner option. Tastes just as good as nee when reheated. All the sides are good options.

The food is delicious. The portions are great for each platter. I ordered the pepper steak platter and it was delicious.
I ordered the Turkey wing platter Turkey wings were tender with great gravy. Comes on a bed of rice. Got Mac and cheese and cabbage that were also cooked very well. Mac and cheese uses ziti noodles, but is cheesy and not stiff.

I just wanted to take a moment and show love to this philly gem! I go quite often and awhile back it was a seasoning they used that i personally wasn't a fan of but the food was still good. I've gone a few time over the past month and noticed a difference in taste and all i can say is amazing! Gilbens y'all are alright with me 😋keep on doing it up! Quality, service etc! And the young lady who's always there doing multiple things is a sweetheart and so patient.
