The only reason we go here is because the space is big enough to be out of the way for a larger group of us to come and go. We all work in hospitality and ive worked in restaurants the past decade. The male bartender is so consistently, incredibly rude to every single one of us whether they are dead or busy. I understand being busy, but it's not just that. If it were, apologizing and saying i'll be right with you goes a long way. He flat out ignores you, we all waited 15-20 min to place a single order (like one drink), and when he does speak he's just so rude. We all go to Bonner's often, and all the bartenders are always so nice to us, or at the very least pleasant.

sitcom-esque neighborhood staple bar. i love hanging out here in my pajamas.
First time. Popped in here one late afternoon. Three other folks were sitting at the bar with me. Super chill environment. The service was accommodating because I asked to change the TV channel and they were very obliging. Agreeable.

I’ve been a long-time customer of Gojjo, but my recent experience was disappointing. I placed a phone order and arrived 30 minutes later to find it hadn’t been prepared—the order was never entered into the computer. I waited at the bar but was repeatedly overlooked, and when I asked about my order, I was dismissed without acknowledgment. I stepped outside to turn off my running car and bring my friend inside. We sat at the bar to order drinks, but were still ignored, while others were served promptly. The difference in treatment was noticeable, and I sincerely hope it wasn’t due to bias. The older gentleman—possibly the owner—apologized and offered to cover my next order, but didn’t take my name or contact info. When I called the next day, the phone rang three times before going to voicemail, which I hope wasn’t intentional. I’d like to see more consistent and respectful service from Gojjo.
Called last night to order an Ethiopian cheesesteak, was told it’d be ready in 15 minutes. I arrive 15 minutes after calling, only to have to wait another 15 minutes to get my food. The fact that I had to pay before receiving my food combined with the long wait time makes me think they had no intention of making the food until I arrived. I considered that they may have been understaffed which seems to be a complaint some others have, but this was a Monday night and it was not busy. I would like to give them the benefit of the doubt because the family that runs the place seems like good people. The food was good, not great, but definitely above avg for bar food imo. Probably a better place to get drinks and have a bite to eat or two than a place to get a quick meal.

2.5* I normally am not someone to leave a bad review, but in our instance I have to let others know I can't recommend this place because of the service. From the outside, it looks like a great community spot with large indoor and outdoor seating areas and a great bar. However, they seem to be very understaffed with waiters. Our food came out in waves. First two people got theirs at 25 minutes after ordering, and then three others got theirs at 45 minutes, and one person at our table didn't get their food at all after about 90 minutes. The food was decent (although doesn't beat our favorite spot for Ethiopian in the city), the price was fine, and the people were nice, but it's never a good experience when someone at your table goes hungry. (For the record, this person ordered the same thing as most other people at the table - they just brought out three servings instead of four.)

Great atmosphere even greater wings
Horrendous service. The bartender was very rude and he even had the audacity to ignore us. Absolutely unacceptable. They leave chicken on the floor too — AVOID

Kicked us out because we brought an outside drink but we were NOT DRINKING it. There was a large event going on in the neighborhood called porch fest (if you know you know) and we had left over drinks in are hand but was ready to order multiple drinks and food. We were prepared to throw out our can drinks but the owner had an attitude and wouldn’t accept our apology or that fact that we were prepared to throw out our can drinks that was basically empty. Also we were very corporative and not compatible just terrible service.
Quite frankly that was an over reaction to paying customers.

This is the place to rock, many rockers hang around here and talk about rock music while smoking cigarettes and drinking rock n roll beer. This is a fantastic establishment ! Excellent deals on food and beer, amongst other things!
let me tell you about the night I had at this place. we walk in stand at the bar to try to get service for about 15-20 minutes and we’re coming for a table to order food but they have no hostess and their bar tenders are there servers too. after you put in your order, nobody comes in to give you water or nothing. I had to wait an hour before I got the attention of the manager, and I asked for a water and he proceeded to rudely tell me that the first rule in restaurants is that you don’t bring in another drink from another restaurant, my bad I thought that the first rule is that the customer was right and he did not let me speak to let me let him know that that was a specialty drink from another place that I’m taking home. I’m not drinking at his messy establishment, but he couldn’t care about me as a customer. he neglected to see that I’ve ordered a coffee, a tea and a water from him and I only got the coffee 45 minutes later and the tea an hour and a half later somehow. You don’t bring him a drink from another place so that you order from the place you’re sitting at that’s why that rule is there, but this be belligerent owner with too focused on, insulting me and making sure I have a horrible time. You know where I come from the customer is always right is the first rule of restaurants but apparently here the first rule is to insult the customer and the second rule is to serve them hours later and the third rule is to serve food that is so spicy dry that it gets stuck to your colon for days. I feel insulted and robbed. If you are trying to have as good of a time as I had come here, otherwise try the other 10 incredible Ethiopian restaurants with beautiful loving service that are in that area such as Abyssinia. And I ordered food that ended up taking two hours to prepare to the point that I went to cancel it and they said it was ready before making me wait 30 more minutes to get it. this place is the ideal candidate for kitchen nightmares. The ego of the owner is perfect for reality TV but not for serving people.
Came here cause we heard they have a Kenyan chef. Servers had a flat effect and didn't make any effort, the dude behind the bar seemed like he didn't even want to be there. Injera bread was cold, could've at least put it in the microwave for 10 seconds. Ugali was too soggy, greens had no tomatoes and tasted like they were the frozen ones and just microwaved. Beef fry was tasteless. I did like the beef that came with the injera and the samosas were the best item.
I can’t tell you how good the food was. I was fastening at the time I went to this retirement event. What I can say is that the atmosphere was great and the service was awesome. They didn’t bother us, they didn’t have an attitude or anything like that. We were deep up there on the second floor too. They also have a pool table which I think is great as well as two bars available if needed. Great place to throw an event.
Love this place been coming for years
