Gooey Looies is a charming little spot in south Philly, just minutes from I-95. Be prepared for a possible wait, as it can get busy, and note that parking and seating are limited. The SMALL steak is a massive portion, served with coleslaw and a drink for $20, but it is cash only. The sandwiches are hot and meaty, with the large sandwich bursting with flavor and completely shareable—neither of the two people who ordered the small and large finished them. The cheesesteaks are especially praised, with a new young chef making amazing, dripping, extra cheesy versions that showcase true Philly style. The tuna hoagie is also highly recommended, with crunchy tuna salad, pieces of lettuce and onion, and a good amount of mayo on a real south Philly roll, making it very delicious and satisfying. The staff is friendly and welcoming, though some reviews mention poor customer service at times. On nice days, the patio seating provides a pleasant outdoor experience with perfect weather.
