From the very first bite, this restaurant delivers a culinary journey straight to Haiti. We started with the meatballs and the Haitian pastry filled with smoked herring—each a perfect appetizer that set the stage for the meal. The meatballs were savory and full of character, while the pastry offered a surprising explosion of flavor, smoky and perfectly spiced.
Next came the main dishes: tender conch, expertly seasoned to highlight its delicate taste, and rich oxtails that fell off the bone, layered with warm, aromatic spices. The black rice paired beautifully with everything on the table, completing a feast that truly celebrates Haitian cuisine. Every bite was bursting with flavor and crafted with care.
The ambiance elevated the experience: warm lighting, vibrant music, and an atmosphere that transported us straight to the island. There was an undeniable sense of joy in the space, where every detail invited relaxation and indulgence.
Service was equally memorable. The owners radiated friendliness, making the meal feel personal and genuine. Imma, in particular, checked on us throughout the meal and brought each dish with a smile that made the food taste even better. Her warmth and attentiveness turned dinner into an experience that felt like being welcomed into a home.
This restaurant is more than a place to eat—it’s a feast of flavors, culture, and hospitality that lingers long after the last bite.

Called to place an order for pickup, they told me to wait, I waited 10 mins, called back and the phone was off the line. No ring. This is not the first time I’ve had HORRIBLE customer service.

I love supporting my people However, I won’t ever buy anything from this restaurant again. Yesterday I bought some bouyon and it was overpriced. They sell it for $20 when all the other restaurants sell it for $10. That’s not even the biggest problem. The dumplings were overcooked, it was so nasty, and they didn’t put meat just gross. Y’all cannot play with people’s money in this economy. The legume is also nasty. Please work on that. Customer service used to be great, but I don’t know what happened. I was at work and my aunt was hungry, so I told her to call. Tell me why whoever answered the phone said she doesn’t speak Creole and couldn’t understand her like hun? This is a Haitian restaurant, but okay. I’m not trying to be mean, but the lady who took my order yesterday is slow. I don’t know if she has autism, and if so I apologize. But if not, her customer service was trash. You cannot put someone like this in a customer service role. Y’all need to do better. Smh. Never again.

We went to Gou restaurant tonight, and it was fire!!! The decor was amazing, the food delicious and the people so hospitable. Manno, Valerie and Sarah were great! Welcoming, social, funny and stayed jovial even though we were still seating at 10PM, closing time! All and all, it was the best Haitian restaurant I've visited in Philly! Thank you!
