Different than the south Philly Italian spots that feel like nonna's cooking, this feels like actual Italy. The food is outstanding, the ambiance is so unique with the gelateria and market of Italian specialty items. The service some may say is eh and slow, I think it's more their authentic Italian vibe to sit and enjoy and so they don't rush anything. Pastas are decadent but not overdone, gelato is luscious. Highly recommend this neighborhood gem!

A spectacular birthday lunch for my wife. Our daughter joined us for great food drinks and service. Our warm welcome by Manager Cara was followed by excellent service from Thomas. Really solid and professional. Cocktails, wine, appetizer, entrees, desserts, teas and espresso. Everything perfect and on time from the kitchen. Their singing Happy Birthday in Italian to my wife was a welcome bonus! Thank you!!!!

We took advantage of the Restaurant Week menu. Ample selections were provided with good variety. Food was scrumptious. Our server, Tina, did an excellent job. She was very attentive without being overbearing. We will definitely return during our return to Philadelphia.

Our first time at Gran Caffe L'Aquila was a lot of fun, great service of delicious food and loved that although it was part of Restaurant week, we could pick and choose exactly what we desired both from the prix fixe menu and the regular dinner menu. It was lively and the food was totally delicious, ending with choices off menu of a huge gelato menu. We'll be back!
We chose to dine for lunch here during Philly Restaurant week. The food was delicious, but the choices on the special restaurant week menu were very limited. A choice of 4 appetizers and 4 pasta entrees were on the menu, each person could select one item from each category. It's hard to get a full feeling of the restaurant's capabilities with such limited food options...we could have gone off special menu and ordered whatever we wanted but that defeats the special pricing and incentive to try the restaurant. Service was great.

From the minute we stepped inside we felt that a good lunch was coming. Our lunch was delicious as we ordered from the Restaurant Week menu-two courses $20. Our service by Riley was just perfect since she is helpful and friendly. We hope to return another time.

My experience here is always stellar. If I could give more stars I would. The cedar plank salmon and flash fried artichokes, ricin and gelato are to die for. I love all of the pastas and seafood dishes. Carlos is the best bartender and server. He remembers all of our names and favorites.

Gran Caffe was lovely. Except we had to wait over 15 mins for our reserved 8 pm table. The owner comped up a glass of Prosecco, which was a help... Our dinner was quite scrumptious, the server was terrific too. It was my husband's birthday, and they sang a verse in Italiano for us ! The 'restaurant week' offer was a great value, and we would return, should the place offer this special again.. its also conveniently located to where we live. Overall - a great experience.
