I’d been looking forward to trying this place for weeks and finally decided to treat myself after a long, hard day. When ordering my pho, there was an option for “NO Cilantro,” which I was excited about, given that I’m a person that despises cilantro and was really looking forward to not having to pick it out of my dish. I even made a point to excitedly tell my partner that this restaurant had this option.Lo and behold, when I received my pho, there was a copious amount of cilantro mixed in, despite having explicitly selected the No Cilantro option. It was a huge disappointment for me, as I usually only make pho myself at home to avoid this specific problem.I honestly think the pho would’ve been delicious if the directions had been followed. It was truly a shame that this experience was tarnished for me in this way.

Wasn’t gonna post a review but after hearing and reading Pedro Alfonzo Diaz’s review, I feel compelled to post. I sat at the table adjacent to he and his female partner with the cute, short haircut. He stood out in his newspaper blazer. I looked over since it was my first time there and by the looks of his and his companion’s empty plates, I figured, food’s gotta be good. Yes you order from a QR code and the restaurant staff is mostly hands off but they come around to check in. It was around 1pm on a Saturday. The food was fresh and came out super quick. An elderly lady came out from the kitchen. I’m guessing she’s the matriarch of the small business. Wish i had taken a picture of my food but i took no breaks from eating. The man sat there over his empty plate and narrated his review aloud to his partner as he typed. Dude, don’t be petty. Pay the additional $2 for the egg if you want it or go to the place you mentioned in your review. Stop slandering small businesses.
food does not match pictures in menu. ordered pork chops and they usually come with a fried egg. on the menu it shows a porkchop with fried egg. however, they do not serve it with fried egg. fried egg is $2 additional. the porkchop was dry, flavorful, but tough. it was also very thin. this dish was far too expensive for some rice, a meager porkchop, and some lettuce and carrot. i can go to pho ha saigon on adams and get a better meal for less money. also the service here is lacking. i brought up the issue of the menu being deceptive and it was clear the staff was not interested in engaging in a meaningful way. its restaurant week on a saturday, and the restaurant is mostly empty. hard to imagine why after my experience.

Ok I'm wavering on how to rate this place. On first blush the menu looked good enough, but like the vegan dishes were going to require substractions rather than fully composed entrees. We ordered the tofu banh mi (Vietnamese sandwich) and the Fried Vegan Spring Roll Vermicelli. The tofu banh mi was fantastic, maybe the best I ever had? I was prepared to be disappointed, because often times they make it vegan by pulling out the mayo and then the sandwich is not moist enough. However, the tofu was cooked in a delicious savory sauce that gave it lots of flavor and compensated for the mayo. Also it was the first time I had banh mi on a soft baguette, which was brilliant. It made the whole sandwich easier to eat, and pleasant at that. The pickled veggies were delicious, while the jalapenos packed a punch without being overpowering. Then we got to the "Fried Vegan Spring Roll Vermicelli". I would have thought with "vegan" in the name the dish would be well adapted. It was not. It was essentially plain rice noodles with fried spring rolls on top, and a small medley of cabbage mix veggies. The spring rolls were not good--I dont know how they made a fried food unappetizing but it was probably the only time I have left a restaurant with leftover spring rolls in my life (albeit, they were oddly more enjoyable as leftovers). And the soy sauce that the waiter provided in lieu of the traditional sauce (which likely had products made from fishes) was inadequate to carry the flavor of the ensemble. I would give a hard pass to this dish. The restaurant was empty on a frigid night, but it seemed like there were many takeout orders as we dined. I liked the ambiance of the cozy inside. The wait staff was a bit green, but they served us earnestly and at the end of the day that's all I care about.Four stars: the banh mi single handedly carries this review. I'd love to see the restaurant expand their menu with vegan condiments like mayo, more veggie-heavy dishes, and even plant-based meats. Ultimately, I will definitely be back for that banh mi. WOW.Vegetarian options: There are several vegan dishes. I would love them to use tiny indicators for vegan dishes (like a leaf or a "V") rather than use "vegan" in the dish title as that tends to discourage non-vegans who would otherwise enjoy these dishes.

Ordered Door dash from this place and was very happy with my decision. They had a coupon for $3 off $20 purchase which worked great for me. I ordered 2 vegan tofu banh mi's and an order of tofu summer rolls. The food was delivered pretty quickly and I don't think it was too expensive. The banh mi was still warm when it arrived and the summer rolls were still cool (like they're supposed to be!). The hoagie roll for the banh mi was really nice. No hard edges, perfectly soft. The veggies were fresh and crunchy. The tofu was a great texture and the sauce had a little spice but not much. I really enjoyed the sandwich and it was only $10 on door dash which I think is reasonable. I thought the summer rolls tasted very fresh. The dipping sauce it came with was sweet but also savory, perfect pairing. I even put some dipping sauce on my sandwich. I'll definitely be ordering from here again and would love to check out the actual restaurant.
