Hershel's East Side Deli is located near the center of the Reading Terminal Market, and was quite busy when I went, although it was Saturday around lunch time so that's to be expected. Great service across the board, was met with a smile by everyone I interacted with despite the crowds. Getting to the main attraction, the pastrami sandwich is out-of-this-world delicious. One of the best sandwiches I've ever had. I originally thought the price ($17) was a bit much, but it is well worth it for the experience and the portion size was so large I easily made two full meals out of it.

This is the go-to deli inside the Reading Terminal Market! The reuben corned beef on rye is the way to go. The staff does not cheat you on the portion. Dead center of the market, definitely a crowded area to line up but the line moves fairly quickly. I haven't tried all the spots in the market but this place will definitely keep me from exploring elsewhere :)

Man, the sandwich game in Philly is SO strong!!! Everybody tells you to eat cheesesteaks when you go to Philly (which we did plenty) but no one tells you about all the other great options. I would fight a rabid dog over a corned beef or pastrami sandwich from Hershel’s!!

Got the pastrami and corned beef, both on rye and one as a reuben and the other as a Rachel. Probably two of the best sandwiches I've ever had. My only real problem was the service on the to-go side. Not really any guidance, got ignored by the guy cutting meat for the sandwiches, then he tried to skip over us, then had to reiterate everything we just ordered from him to the lady at the register again. Not really a customer friendly setup, but the food took the edge off lol
Amazing pastrami! Ordered and egg and cheese on rye, and just before I ordered the cashier offered me a sample of the pastrami. Never had anything like it! Warm, fresh, delicious!

This was located in Reading Terminal Market. It can get overwhelming with how many restaurants to choose from. Hershel's had a long line so we knew we had to try this place. The line went so quick. We ordered Pastrami Rueben. The meat was so tender and juicy. It was one of the best Rueben I've had. I would definitely recommend others try this.

The food preparation methods at this restaurant are pretty disgusting. Food was bland. No flavor. This establishment doesn’t understand how to make authentic Jewish food.

Latkes were burned on the outside and raw in the middle. Not even edible.

Corned Beef Reuben for less than $15 is a great deal compared to the rest of the eateries here in Reading Terminal Market. Line was fast and portion size was big for the price. Will definitely go here again when I come back..

pay attention! The place is not kosher with a certificate!
