This was my second time here. The first time the food and drinks were good so we returned. I decided to get a dungeness crab boil with added blue crabs & eggs. The blue crabs were small and mushy. I also got a strawberry lemon drop that was horrible. I guess if im desperate I'll return and just stick to my little dungeness crabs. My daughter got a snow crab boil with added RAMEN and egg her noodles were super thick and mushy as well. My boys both got snow crabs boils with muscles and shrimp heads on. The shrimp were mushy. Smh. Just a huge disappointment a hit or a miss. If im desperate and its no other options I'll return. The sauce is amazing btw.

I just left and we had the AYCE. Our server Kim was AMAZING ❗Nice and clean atmosphere, great bang for your buck. I got the seasoned garlic butter , flavor lacked a little in my personal opinion but was decent overall.

Hook and Reel Seafood Restaurant in South Philly is a pretty decent spot for seafood. It’s never really crowded when I go, which is nice for a more relaxed experience. I usually order the seafood boil bag with Dungeness crab legs, and overall, the food is pretty good and consistent.

One thing I’d like to see improved is the portion of vegetables in the seafood boil bags. While you get to choose your seafood, the extras like corn and potatoes feel a bit skimpy. They typically include just a couple of pieces of corn and small potatoes, which leaves you wanting more. It seems like many seafood boil places have started cutting back on the vegetable portions—gone are the days when you’d get a mix of corn, broccoli, and potatoes.

The service at Hook and Reel can be hit or miss. While the staff is always friendly, the service can be unusually slow, even when the restaurant isn’t busy. However, you’re seated quickly, and the prices are reasonable.

The appetizers, like their wings, fried calamari, and fries, are solid choices, and the drinks are decent too. While Hook and Reel isn’t the best seafood place in the area, it’s a good option if you’re looking for a quick seafood fix. It’ll hit the spot without breaking the bank!

First time visiting. Surprised how few people were around for dinner. Had a few entrees. Lobster bisque was hot and creamy. Lots of flavor. Flounder basket was very good. Tender filets lightly fried and moist. Cajun fries were nicely crispy. Best meal was the Shell Shocker boil. Mix of snow crabs, shrimp, corn and potatoes. Very tasty in the lemon pepper sauce.

Great friendly and attentive service. Would recommend anyone interested in seafood.
